Just checking to see if you're still online, and how close you are to Queensland. Tropical Cyclone Larry came ashore today in Queensland as a category 5 and I understand the devastation was pretty widespread. It's the strongest hurricane (known as tropical cyclones down under) to hit Australia in 30 years. Hope all's fine with you.

Thanks for the concern but I'd be more worried about fallout than tropical cyclones...
It's sunny outside and not a tropical cyclone to be seen for thousands of kilometres. Of course as New Zealand is sub-tropical we don't get any cyclones, just a mini tornado or water spout from time to time. About the worst we have to worry about are passing icebergs (the size of NYC) or the occasional volcanic explosion (see below). Hobbits used to be a menace until King Kong went on a rampage after a friday night drinking binge.

OOOPs..Didn't have my map with me. I guess Agate18 would be a little closer to the action. What's especially bad about this storm, other than the destruction it's already done, is there's another following in 72 hours. Tropical Cyclone Wati looks like it could land in the same neighborhood. Hope Agate18 is working deep in his opal mine where it's safe.
