The last several weeks my in box has been inundated with Viagra, re-mortgage offers and porn sites. What happened? Up until now I've received very little unwanted email. I keep blocking them, but they keep coming.

I get 10 to 20 per day, but Verizon puts them in a spam folder, not in my regular email. I usually get 2 to 4 from the Nigerian Mafia wanting me to help get millions of dollars out of the country. Ya Right, I should give them my checking account number! Not this grumpy old man. Just went in to the spam folder, there were 18 & while I was looking at them number 19 popped up. All in the past 24 hours!!

I get 60 or so overnight, then about 100 more during the day. About half of them are caught by my spam filter, the other half I have to delete. Yuck.

Scene: A cafe. One table is occupied by a group of Vikings with horned
helmets on. A man and his wife enter.
Man (Eric Idle): You sit here, dear.
Wife (Graham Chapman in drag): All right.
Man (to Waitress): Morning!
Waitress (Terry Jones, in drag as a bit of a rat-bag): Morning!
Man: Well, what've you got?
Waitress: Well, there's egg and bacon; egg sausage and bacon; egg and spam;
egg bacon and spam; egg bacon sausage and spam; spam bacon sausage
and spam; spam egg spam spam bacon and spam; spam sausage spam spam
bacon spam tomato and spam;
Vikings (starting to chant): Spam spam spam spam...
Waitress: ...spam spam spam egg and spam; spam spam spam spam spam spam baked
beans spam spam spam...
Vikings (singing): Spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam!
Waitress: ...or Lobster Thermidor a Crevette with a mornay sauce served in a
Provencale manner with shallots and aubergines garnished with
truffle pate, brandy and with a fried egg on top and spam.
Wife: Have you got anything without spam?
Waitress: Well, there's spam egg sausage and spam, that's not got much spam in
it.
Wife: I don't want ANY spam!
Man: Why can't she have egg bacon spam and sausage?
Wife: THAT'S got spam in it!
Man: Hasn't got as much spam in it as spam egg sausage and spam, has it?
Vikings: Spam spam spam spam (crescendo through next few lines)
Wife: Could you do the egg bacon spam and sausage without the spam then?
Waitress: Urgghh!
Wife: What do you mean 'Urgghh'? I don't like spam!
Vikings: Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!)
Waitress: Shut up!
Vikings: Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!
Waitress: Shut up! (Vikings stop) Bloody Vikings! You can't have egg bacon
spam and sausage without the spam.
Wife (shrieks): I don't like spam!
Man: Sshh, dear, don't cause a fuss. I'll have your spam. I love it.
I'm having spam spam spam spam spam spam spam beaked beans spam spam
spam and spam!
Vikings (singing): Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!
Waitress: Shut up!! Baked beans are off.
Man: Well could I have her spam instead of the baked beans then?
Waitress: You mean spam spam spam spam spam spam... (but it is too late and
the Vikings drown her words)
Vikings (singing elaborately): Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful
spam! Spam spa-a-a-a-a-am spam spa-a-a-a-a-am spam. Lovely spam!
Lovely spam! Lovely spam!
Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Spam spam

Say what you want about AOL - those emails don't even make it to my spam folder! I never get them anymore.

Max40... ME TOO! Do you per chance have roadrunner? I never received them before in over 3 years and in the last month I have been slammed with them.
I am very careful about answering emails through ebay etc. Have also set up 20 message rules in the past 3 weeks. Catches some but they use font, text and mis-spelling to keep getting them through.

well the bad news is....they now have your email address.
you can always change your email address and avoid all websites.
I have spybot and javacools spyware blaster and it's been almost a year since I've had any Spam emails.
A week or so ago I was looking at watches and went online looking for a particular model of Seiko watch for reference...and guess what I'm getting now. Spam and more spam on buying watches.
So I guess you can only change your email address every now and then to stop getting spam.

TEDDY was NOT the name I used,,,,,the one I really did is Soooooooooooooo obvious,,,,,
And!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just got a call last week from AOL,,,,,,,you know, come back, try us again,,,,,,she said is ,,,,,,,so and so there,,,,,,,,EXACTLY what I gave them,,,,,,they ONLY care abouth the CREDIT CARD Number, the name means Nothing,,,,,,
Might be that you or someone else has posted your e-mail address on a board where they can be harvested by spam-bots or it simply could have been harvested from an e-mail you sent to someone who, in turn, has picked up a virus thus releasing your address into the "wild".
You might Google your e-mail address as a close quote and see what you find.
Also, if you're tagging any photos with your e-mail or if you have a web site or a blog with the e-mail address, it can be harvested.
Best,
Michael
