Veryone is waiting until Sunday to bid. Seems to be a pattern these days - at least for me.

There is certainly a lack of bidding right now. Having any items on people's watch lists?

I do see there are more watching and hopefuly they will at least snipe. I never thought I'd be saying that!

I think it all depends and what the vintage is. I just had 20 jewelry auctions go off a couple of weeks ago and they all had bids. Bids all week but they day then ended was really good.

I ended auctions Tuesday with over 60% sell thru. A lot of last day activity however.

Do you have a lot of watchers? I think buyers are starting to wait until the end so they can get your item for cheap. So I guess you have to start the auctions at what price you will accept for the piece. It is not an auction anymore because the first person is afraid to bid so they don't lose the piece.

Yes I agree it has become a snipe fest and there isn't enough time at the auctions end to get the bids in. I really appreciate the coments as I am hopeful the end bids will be much better. I did real well last month at this same time but the bids came in right away. People at ebay are saying I'm doing better than most but they are not all selling vintage jewelry. Well I just don't know! Thank all L

I don't know how anyone finds your stuff on the US site these days. Shouldn't people selling jewelry be able to recognize the styles and correctly label them? I was trying to look thru art deco style pieces and maybe 1 of every 10-15 items with Art Deco in the title actually are Art Deco. Frustrating as hell.

I agree fenix. If jewelry sellers would put their jewelry in the right catagory instead of everyone putting them in vintage it would make it easer to get through and look at their items. There is so much new stuffin Vintage I hate listing in there. I thought vintage should be approximately 50-60's but everyone has their own defination of Vintage.
Another thing when people put estate jewelry. Yes it is from an estate but quite a bit of it is newer stuff. I guess it is all in how we look at things. Isn't Art Deco from the 20's.

I know there are too many catagories but I think eBay needs a catagory for reproductions. But then again who would use it.

My handbags have been selling like crazy, but jewelry? Dead. The only thing they've gone crazy over were my threader earrings. Go figure that one. The only thing I can figure with the handbags is I tend to go way out there. IOW, I stray from the usual most of the time. I think the handbag category is more tricky, though. One wrong word and ZAP!

Libra - I don't mind if the Art Deco piece was made 6 weeks ago as long as the style is Art Deco. I don't do detailed catagory searches. In this case last night I just typed in "Art Deco" and then narrowed it down to the "Jewelry & Watches" catagory. I understand that people can have different definitions of "estate", "Vintage", and "Antique" but how do you get different definitions of an artistic style? Listing some of the pieces that came up in that search as Art Deco is like listing stucco front ranch style home as "Colonial".

I don't have anything ending Sunday because of Easter but I have some nice vintage jewelry that I had plan to run Sat to Thur but now I wonder???
I just a good size lot of vintage jewelry that ended with not one bid - I don't think I had but one watcher? It wasn't great stuff but well worth my LOW price. I can sell it at a garage sale for more than I was asking.
Don't even get me started on fine jewelry!!! I had a friend try to sell a killer TRUE Art Deco diamond ring for $375 - no bidders - how sad.
Maybe we should be buying????

Our sales have been tanking too. One good week from 3/14 to 3/17 and other than that, its been dead.

Yes we see the same thing too. Hardly any bids until the last possible hour before your auctions end. Wondering why we are killing ourselfs getting this stuff listed.
Should just do 3 day auctions then.

That seems to be the norm for us though. Perhaps one good week a month now. Seriously thinking about doing this. Been full time for almost 7 years now and it think for us its running its course.

Getting mostly the one bid for a item now.
I was wondering perhaps maybe buy it nows are the better way to go. I think I read somewhere where 31% of Ebay now is Buy It Now or Fixed Price. And has been increasing.

I understand what you mean fenix but art deco is a period in the 1920,s so I think that if ebay is changing all those catagories they have to have catagories that fit the time. JMO

Lady - I definately think it is a buyers market in the jewelry department. I finally decided to just do my search from the UK site (where more people seem to understand style definitions) and was blown away at how low some really incredible pieces are going for.

I tried one BIN a couple of weeks ago. I had an auction of Costume jewelry lot. I did research on this type of jewelry so I started it at $9.95 and put a BIN of $35.00. I knew it would get bids but probably not that high but guess what it was bought within the first two hours. This way is it packaged out of the house and into the buyers and it had 7 days before that auction would have gone off. I think the 99 cent sellers do that to intice the buyers to bid and I don't blame them. But of course their S/H charge is high so than at least make some money if there is only one bidder. I try and research quite a bit and I find there is never a good way to list.

Libra

Sometimes it's pretty hit or miss. I had a lot of jewelry up (a very large lot) at $99. No bids. I re-list at $79 and it goes for almost $200. Had another lot with a $200 BIN and it went for $450. It seems like you have to know when the major paydays are. I do great every other week or so.

I find every other week good also.

I did search through UK jewelry and I came across one jewelry dealer that had some gorgeous jewelry but I don't know the conversion rate so I didn't feel like bidding. There was one bracelet that was out of this world. Fenix or anyone how much is 6.00 with the pound sign in front.
Now I can't remember the user ID so I can't go back. darn but the bracelet I liked had a bid and it went off today.

Wow that is great sparkz, thanks. I hope I can find that seller again. Of course the bracelet that wanted is gone but there was some other great pieces.
