Is this something new. My other bidders on an item that has been bot, paid for and shipped are getting second chance offers. One bidder emailed me to see if it was fraud.
I have contacted EBay Security about it.

all you have to do is click on on your list of bidders, click on their ebay Id and hit contact and send them and email. If they respond back to the ebayer who sent them the email, the other emailer then has their email address and if they are like a lot of people, their name. They can then send them any email they want, if they respond back thru ebay and hide their email address they should be safe.

yes when you click on it, but if you ad a listing to your watch list of another ebayer, when the auction is over you can click on the id of the bidders of the auction and email them from ebay or you can even click on them before the aution is over and email them thru ebay and ask them anything and if they answer the email with out using the ebay system you would have their email addresses for you use later even though you you have nothing to do with the auction. That was your question. once some one gets that in formation they can send that other person anything they want, and it could have nothing to do with the original seller and just say it does. If the bidder click on this email from the bogus seller he could say he was you and he could sell them YOUR item and collect the money and you would never know unless the "bidder" contacted you. The only way to protect your self is for everone to deal only through ebay, AND never from an email.

I have seen sellers of big ticket items adding a warning about 2nd chance notices. I was wondering what that was all about??
I still don't understand this scam but what happens to the original seller if one of your bidders gets scammed??

In reality the original seller had nothing to do with the scam, but that does not prevent it from becoming a mess. Beware of any deal on the internet and be careful. Anyone can sue anybody for any reason. That does not mean they will win. If someone has a grudge against you, they can file complaints on ebay, even if they have no foundation and ebay is too big and busy to adequately police everything. If you email them you would be lucky to get an answer, or someone that understands. They usually send you one of their rules that does not answer your quetion, but is safe. And if they make a decision, ebay could be liable so they will take the safe road so they would not be liable. It is better for them to lose a customer than a lawsuit.
