Absolute WORST concert I ever went to...

Spring, 1970, just before KENT STATE and GRADUATION and then (6 days later)...BOOT CAMP:

Some bike bar in UPSTATE~
The opening act was: The Holy Modal Rounders of "Easy Rider" (BIRD song) fame -- so bad that they actually got BOO'ED off the stage

Then Mr Brown comes on: does his ONE HIT BLUNDER & leaves -- a happy riot ensued...

BEST CONCERT I EVER WENT TO:

Although I saw Led Zeppelin twice, being in a state of chemical imbalance, I don't remember much about either...

SO: I have to give the #1 star to:

THE WHO ~ Fall, 1969

Twas just after "Tommy" came out (or was coming out) and they did the ENTIRE album on stage!

Then they did ALL their hits!

Then they continued with the theme song from "Tommy" (Squeeze me...Please me...Tease me...Punch me...) until Roger Daltry finally lost his voice -- over 4 HOURS long!

TWAS GREAT!

and a good time was had by all LOL

The Who an outstanding band.Who,who,..who are you? Who,who,..who the f*ck are you???

The worst concert I have been to had to be the Barry Manilow concert a couple of years ago.I hate this guy, he actually makes my f*cking skin crawl. My wife likes him,and being married you KNOW how that goes.We saw him back in the mid-80's at SPAC in Saratoga,N.Y.Great place to see a concert, its like the Greek Theater in L.A.We had also seen Neil Diamond,Chicago and the Moody Blues there. So my wife sees an add in the paper of Barry playing in the coliseum in New Haven,CT.We had seen the Doobie Brothers there in 1979,and its not one of my favorite places to see a concert as its a very old building. She asks me if I would take her,and I said..well we saw him in the mid-80's, I thought once in my life was enough. After a few days of pestering me I finally submitted and got the cheapest seats I could.I figured the farther I was away from this nerd, the better. We get in the place and someone else comes on first-a jazz singer-I hate jazz to begin with-this was going to be a LONG night.
There was an intermission and everyone heads for the bathrooms. There are no doors to the bathrooms, but you have to walk down stairs to get there.Theres an entrance and exit stairs which are separated by about 50 feet.Im waiting for my wife to go,and as usual the womens line is long.It was so long it passed the womens exit stairs. Then some of the women started going down the exit stairs to get ahead of everyone that was waiting in line. Some of the women started yelling "hey you cant do that" I thought a fight was going to break out. Finally I got to go and the mens room is a couple hundred feet down from the womens room.Of course theres no line there and as Im walking down the entrance stairs up comes a WOMAN! Im standing there at the urinal and not 10 seconds later another woman comes down the stairs and says "hope you guys don't mind, but I gotta go bad" and proceeds to go in one of the stalls.GEEZ no privacy! I call this "the concert from hell"

In my yoot, I saw so many bands I can't remember them all. My boyfriend's sis-in-law worked at a radio station and we always got free tix. Some that I sort of remember (grin) was Edgar Winter (wild!), The Allman Brothers (I think), and so many others I can't remember now. The best concert I saw, though, was back in '83 and it was The Animals, The Fixx and The Police at the Orange Bowl. It started at 5:00 and went well past midnight. The Police played for 3 hours. The most recent concert I saw was U2 (I love 'em). Although the concert was great, I was disappointed. They played exactly 2 hours, walked off stage and never did an encore.

The best concerts I have ever seen were BB King and Stevie Ray Vaughn at Red Rocks and Albert King and BB King and BB Kings club in LA.

The worst were anything that involved 80's hair band stars Cinderella (that was one consistantly horrible band) but then the Pretty Boy Floyd show where no one went anywhere near a mic during the pitch perfect background vocals and the drummers click track was piped so loud into his monitors that the drum mics were picking it up was so bad it was funny.

I don't think you can beat an Arlo Guthrie concert for the level of communication with the crowd. Any concert where they hang out on the edge of the stage after the show to shake hand and chat with the people is my kind of place.

Deja - I went to a GooGoo Dolls show like that once. It was a club show before they really broke but I'll never forget how completely down to earth they were.

that would be cool tom-post it

remember "stadium rock" of the 70's?

We went to two good ones. One was in 1978 when we went to Ben Franklin Football field in Philly. We saw Fleetwood Mac,Bob Welsch, and the Steve Miller Band. The wife took a pic of me just outside the stadium and I belive the "Spectrum" was in the background-wish I could find the damn pic.The other one we went to was
in 1980 to see the Eagles on their "Long Run Tour" at the Yale Bowl in New Haven,Ct with Heart and The Little River Band. Both times it took us took hours to get out of the parking lots.Thats what happens when you get between 50 and 60 thousand people leaving at the same time.
