I just got a Paypal payment with a small amount (.67) deducted for seller discounts. I did not authorize or even suggest a discount in the shipping!!! Anybody know how this could have happened? I'm going to bed now (early to bed, early to rise), but I'll check back in the morning and see if any of you know how this could possibly have happened. Apparently, the guy wanted it to be an even $50, instead of $50.67, but how did he do it? It's kind of scaring me. I really don't like this at all - this has never happened to me before. He's confirmed and everything - very weird. Thanks for your thoughts!

Okay, I'm stupid. I just went and looked again and he actually ADDED the $.67. What's that about? That's totally bizarre. I'm really going to bed now.

Sometimes my buyers, God bless 'em, add a little to "cover" PayPal fees--especially with low-end items. Usually it doesn't cover the fee but every little bit helps. They usually don't even mention this to me in our e-mails.

Yes, Roadsmith, I'm sure that's exactly it. This guy is a buyer and seller. What a guy!!! It's never happened to me before and it's really nice to get to tell a positive story about a great buyer!

Adding money to cover fees? I don't think so. It's more likely he just made a mistake in the total or has some system he uses as a buyer that requires a certain total.

Why don't you ask him why he did it? It's very curious.

I am gonna ask him, but it is clearly an amount that he added himself. Maybe he just wanted an even $50 so his bookkeeping would be easier. Who knows? I'm into it whatever his reason was. I'll let you know.

If he paid an even $50.00 he probably just rounded up to make it easier. I have done that if I couldn't remember the exact total and was going to paypal with the email address in hand.
Do you invoice with paypal?

Okay, got the answer! First, no I don't invoice thru Paypal. I invoice thru ebay. He did that because it had to be $50 to get the $10 Paypal buyer credit. So, for him to pay me an extra $.67, he got a $10 credit from Paypal. That's an answer I never would have guessed!
