I have a bidder who bought 6 small items from me...the total before shipping will be approx 60.00. Now that the auctions have all ended she wants to know if she can wait until the 1st to pay for them. That is over 3 weeks. My TOS state payment must be made within 14 days. What would you tell her? I do have 2nd bidders on most of these.

I would stick to your TOS. She couldn't have overlooked the payment terms on 6 different auctions. Tell her you will need payment within 14 days or you'll have to file a UID. Let her figure out a way at her end to rob Peter to pay Parkman.

What's her feedback history? Granted, that's really unacceptable, but in that circumstance I think I would check her feedback history and then decide what to do.

She has over 200 positives with 3 negs. If she had asked before bidding I don't think it would have annoyed me quite as bad and I would probably have said fine. I just hate it when they wait until the auctions end to start changing the rules. Now..she is stating she thinks she already has one of the items.

Sounds like a flake. Explain to her that one UID from you is as damaging as three.

Oh gosh ... three weeks is WAY too long ... has she bid on a bunch of other sellers things, too?

I would say that the auctions state payment must be made within 14 days. (pay with credit card through PayPal an option?)

3 weeks really is way, way too long. She definitely should have asked before. The others are right, you know she surely knows that's too long to wait for payment.

Why not just wait the extra 7 days? It's no extra work on your part, certainly less work than relisting or making 2nd chance offers. 2nd chance offers don't work half the time anyway.

Plus you get a chance to be nice to somebody. I know business is business, but the personal touch is part of business too.

Think of it as an opportunity to apply the Golden Rule, or karma, or whatever.

Another alternative is to tell her you'll take a certain percentage now and the rest of the money no later than a date you both agree on, then stick to those terms. Make sure she understands she gets nothing until she pays in full.

Before you make your decision, check on her recent activity. Is she still bidding on items? People may get in over their heads sometimes - but if she is still buying, then I wouldn't be as inclined to help her out. Did you get the feeling that she didn't want the item she already has? The fact that she mentioned that may be a warning sign. It's a tough call.

Be very careful...I had a similiar thing happen...Turned out the guy was bidding on the same thing in another auction and got it for less than his winning bid for mine. Do I need to say that he didn't pay for mine? Once burned, twice shy...I'd say stick to your TOS.
