I just got this lovely fabric last weekend. I was told it was upholstery fabric - it's really soft and could be used for drapes, pillows or some clothing like jackets or purses.
I tried to show some of the back also, as I thin this is woven.
Does anyone have a clue on the name or age?
Thanks

Perhaps a brocade.

The flowers are raised like chenille but feel like velvet.
So far I have not found anything close to it on ebay??

I vote brocade also. You can describe the velvety feel of the raised flowers in the description, and have the title something like "5 yards brocade upholstery w/raised flowers".

Could this be called "flocking" or is it "flocked?" Also, if you put the word 'chenille' in your title you'll get a ton more hits, too.

Oh! You also asked the age...it looks '70's to me. Good luck with it...very pretty!

A friend suggest it maybe damask - but I don't think so.

Flocking is artificially coating something such as spraying artificial snow on a Christmas tree. Also you often see it on decorations, clothing, wallpaper, ribbon etc. It has a fuzzy feel & usually is applied last.

You can buy spray cans of it in many craft stores.

Hi all,

Looks like a brocade to me too. It's not damask.

Here's a picture of a damask tablecloth I sold a while back. Notice how smooth the fabric is, also how the design is woven on opposite sides.

Looks like mid 40's Fox movie theater curtains.

Update
I took it to a fabric store and they voted chenille. I have seen a few auctions for chenille upholstery and the price per yard is pretty high. Looks like I have a winner here. Now I need to determine how to sell it. I have between 30 and 50 yards!!!
Anyone want to make me pillows?

OhMsLucy - that's what I understood Damask to look like. Thanks

lady if I were you I would use the words burn out velvet and cut back/cut out velvet in the description as well. That will pick up more hits. My opinion.
