Just remember Jack, payment must be by Bidpay, or cash in US dollars, registered mail. Just to confirm that this bidder is legit, you should require him to send a bottle of vodka (the good stuff) to Sparkz to validate his identity. After you and I sample it, we can make a determination as to whether this is an acceptable bidder.

Ohmigawd! It's true, the world IS shrinking! That's pretty neat, Jack, hope it goes well. Just 2 weeks ago I had my first-ever buyer from mainland China, city called Tianjin. They even had a fairly decent fb record, and the transaction went perfect.

I've had them from all over - UK, Netherlands, France, Germany, China, Puerto and Japan. Never had a problem. I haven't had Russia yet, though. Hope it goes well for you, Jack.

I am randomly in Moscow this month. Paypal doesnt operate here and the average russian doesnt have a credit card. Despite the fact that there are lots of scams in Russia, the average guy is pretty honest. The weather on the other hand stinks. The mail I am not so sure of - I ordered a book from Amazon.com two weeks ago and it is still not here.
I just updated my new website - give me your feedback on it.

Hearing that the postal service is as bad, if not worse, than Canada's would worry me as a seller. I can see the emails coming wondering where their package is.
I can relate to the weather. I'm in Cleveland, Ohio. It stinks here, too. High today? 18. The sun? We hardly ever see it in the winter months. However, this weekend we'll be above freezing so it's time to get out those shorts and tank tops.

I had a bidder from Russia once. I was scared to death. I thought for sure I wouldn't get paid. It was a pretty high dollar amount. Anyway, He paid me by wire transfer to the western union office. I went and picked it up at mailboxes etc. It went fine. I would suggest using bidpay only with this bidder. If the guy's legit, he is aware of the shipping fees and other things involved. If he refuses to use bidpay, don't sel to him. Period.

When shipping to Russia, Ukraine, Latvia etc. it pays to use discreet packaging that doesn't shout 'steal me' to some underpaid postal worker. Seal all edges so tampering is evident.
Payment must be hard currency and not credit card based as CC fraud is rampant in the former CCCP/USSR regions. We accept BidPay, well concealed cash banknotes in Euros or US$ (never send registered as it'll likely arrive opened and empty), or MoneyBookers.

A buyer from Russia won an expensive clock from us a few weeks ago. Our first sale to Russia.
He paid immediately with Bidpay. I sent the clock out to him Global Express Mail insured at his request.
It took just one week to get there. I sent it the day after Bidpay approved his payment, which was right away.
His clock arrived in Moscow, a few days before I received my money order from Bidpay.

The last buyer from Russia promised to pay immediately in US cash dollars. An envelope arrived two week slater, opened, empty and taped up.
Was he scamming me or do we blame the Russian mail service?
The item was small and cheap, so I just sent it to him anyway rather than go around and around with him. I blocked him so it wouldn't hppen again.
Be careful when you accept cash or you may run into the same dilemma.
