***Free Listing Day***
As a special way to say thank you to our sellers, we are holding a Free Listing Day on the U.S. site (www.ebay.com)on Thursday, December 25th, 2003 between 00:00:01 PST (12:00 AM plus one second) and 23:59:59 PST (11:59 PM plus 59 seconds).
During the U.S. Free Listing Day, the insertion fee for all regular auction-style, Fixed Price, and 30-day Store Inventory listings will be $0.00 on the U.S. site (www.ebay.com) and on eBay Motors. This includes listings created prior to December 25th, 2003 but that are scheduled to start on December 25th, 2003.
All other fees (all other insertion fees, all Final Value Fees and all other optional listing fees, such as Buy It Now, Featured Plus!, Highlight, Bold, Gallery, Gift Services, Scheduled Listings, Gallery Featured, Homepage Featured, Reserve Fees, Picture Services, extended duration insertion fees, etc…) will still be charged.
For Store Inventory listings, the first 30-day insertion fee will be free. Extended duration fees will still be charged. If a seller lists with Good 'Til Canceled (GTC), they will be charged the current standard GTC listing charge beginning the next 30-day cycle.
Sothebys.com, eBay Live Auctions, all eBay International sites, Real Estate listings and Ad Format and eBay Professional Services are excluded from the U.S. Free Listing Day. Listings created during Free Listing Day on December 25th, 2003, but that are scheduled to start after December 25th, 2003 will also be excluded.
Sellers can take advantage of this offer by listing with Sell Your Item Forms 1.0 and 2.0, Mister Lister, Turbo Lister, Seller's Assistant, Seller's Assistant Pro and third-party listing tools.
Each day, we run several indexing cycles for eBay Search to capture new information, such as new listings, bids, etc. Due to the high volume of expected listings on Free Listing Day and the nature of Search, there is a possibility that Search updates could be 12 to 15 hours behind on the Friday and Saturday following Free Listing Day. Please note that this does not impact listings' indexing cycles.
We hope you enjoy Free Listing Day. Thanks for a great year!

Gads Ace, you better be telling the truth, I just re-listed 45 items to start in the morning, I want to sleep in a little too.

He must have hit the "5" key instead of the "6" key by mistake or else he is having fun. Try the eBay announcement page tomorrow.

This reeks of copying last year's message and changing the date to make it appear legit. Look at the tools mentioned that we can use - Mister Lister and SYI Form 1.0, both of which I believe were retired earlier this year, and no mention of the new Seller's Manager software.

I actually don't think this one is Ace - I think that is a prank that is also trying to set up Ace since the o in Auction in the OPs name is not the letter o but rather the number 0 and that was only their second post

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

Nice try guy, but it's not April 1st yet. I bet Ace is going to be pissed when he wakes up tomorrow and finds someone is impersonating him on this board. I notice this is your 2nd post since registering today. I missed the first. If any of the regulars want to save this prank, you better copy it now because I suspect Diana is going to WOMD it right after she deep sixes the imposter and his regular username.
edited to add: He posted this B.S. 6 minutes after he registered.
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

I just reported him to Vendio ( you can actually pay for phone support at Vendio now, which I passed on and used their standard form instead ).
The imposter can not make a lower case letter " o " because he used the number 0.

You can verify this by putting either poster on 'ignore' and then viewing the posts by both.

Not a nice prank whoever you are! I take back the "bah humbug" eBay and send it all to you, YOU SCROOGE!! Ihope Mauibabbe can stop her auctions! Maybe she should send you the bill for the listing fee!

MY GOODNESS!
All you normally cynical posters must have turned off your hypersensitive humbug antennae for christmas....
Clearly this was an Ebay ploy designed to get an extra jolt of fees and comissions from the unwary....
In the immortal words of Scrooge, Bah Humbug to you, Ebay.

Ebay would hardly stoop so low as to register with Venido on Dec.24, supply credit card information and nearly duplicate an active member's I.D. and post on this board. After all,it is a multi billion company and the listing fees that they would receive for this ploy are merely a drop in the bucket.

I suppose the moral is, believe nothing, check out everything!
GREAT, I was afraid it was true, and I didn't want to have to start working auctions right now - we're off the boards, doing clean up work from the xmas rush. I hope to have time to do some reorganizing, find my desk, straighten up my office shelves before listing again.
I have eBay Announcement page set as my "home" page, so when I sign on the net, it is the first thing I see, so I don't miss anything........

This is a serious ploy of someone and I hope that Vendio suspends the person. How terrible that someone would sink this low. I imagine if you sit down and think about this someone will come to mind as I did when I read it but blame cannot be put on anyone until we know and of course we will never know. I hope the time change is so that
mauibabbe ended her auctions as I am sure eBay will not refund. What a terrible sick joke. Why would anyone sink this low is beyond comprehension.

Just like a little kid I crept out of my warm bed on Christmas morning and re-checked the E-Bay announcements this morning. After reading the posts on Vendio, I immediately went into the Pending listings and re-scheduled all those auctions for far in the future.
Lucky for me I live in Phoenix and had plenty of time to attend to "business." Thanks to all the readers of this board, I was able to crawl back into my warm bed for some much needed rest!!!!!!!!
posted on December 25, 2003 12:21:02 PM new THIS THREAD IS BOGUS
THERE is NO FREE LISTING DAY TODAY
What a sleazy thing to do.
Vendio requires a credit card number to post here, I hope they track this guy down. Notice that it isnt Auctionace, there is a 0 (number zero) in place of the o (letter o) and he just registered his account on the 24th

mauibabbe - Glad to hear you were able to stop your listings in time.
Thanks to a bunch of savvy vendio posters this vicious prank was nipped in the bud.
