I put a bunch of auctions up last Sunday to find out once and for all how Christmas week auctions do. So far, some looks and bids Sun. and Mon., but since then it's been dead. We'll see if the buyers regroup and rally at the end of the week.

As always, depends on what you are selling. But you may do well. I changed my vacation plans, so will be at home for a couple of extra days. Have been hunting on eBay for lack of anything else (constructive) to do. Haven't seen much - a lot of people must curtail listings for the holidays. So you may find a lot less competition for your wares.
On the other hand, I decided to risk my life and go to the mall yesterday to do my Christmas shopping - expected the worst, but it was pretty quiet - felt like shopping in March.

The malls were quieter than expected in Durham, NC also. What can it mean? Are consumers worn out and tapped out? Is this the recovery that wasn't?

I had 134 postcards end last night with a 43% sell through (usually only 20 to 25%) and many with multiple bids so guess everyone that was looking was feeling a little notalgic. I don't have anything up now though

The Christmas shopping season now seems to start about July or so. I think that by December people start to get sick of it. But one of the biggest things now are the gift cards and certificates, so you don't need to spend as much time shopping. Maybe you will see some sales in January from users of eBay gift certificates. Has anyone had one yet? Does a seller even know if one is being used for payment?

I can say that the Xmas eve was good to me this year. I thought I had goofed when I listed items last Wednesday, but low and behold, 75% STR and most bids placed on the 24th. I guess you never know.

Well, the jury is in. Sell thru rate for my Christmas week auctions ending yesterday was exactly the same as any other week (50% for me).

Did you list anything on Ebays FLD? If so would be interested in know what your STR is
for that week. Some sellers feel FLD is a
waste of time with poor sales, others love it.
So far I only have a few bids on 60 items listed on FLD, but I've been finding I get
most of my bids the last day of an auction.
It didnt used to be that way, but the last year it has been. I ususally do well on FLD
auctions though.
