Since this message board is filled with horror stories about lame bidders/members here is a breath of fresh air.....
Last week I somehow sent a couple of Fire King bowls to the wrong address, the address of a different high bidder. The guy emails me to say "I got a box addressed to Barbra ******* and I have it here. I send him the correct address and ask him to send it to Barbra and tell him I will Paypal him the shipping cost. Today he emails me and says the following.....
"Chris,
Sent out package for Barbara today. The cost was
$6.30. You owe me nothing for mailing this package. It
is a present from me to you. Merry Christmas and have
a happy New Year.
Elmer"
And he is still waiting for his box of slot cars & track!!
Merry Christmas Elmer!

Doesn't it make a huge difference in your outlook when you're lucky enough to encounter someone nice like that?! Recently after I sent an item for much more than the stated shipping price, the buyer sent me $4 to make up the difference--said he didn't feel right about the charges I had to pay. Love it.
But I have to admit that 99 out of 100 of my buyers are just wonnnnnderful people.

Not all are the south end of a northbound horse.
I had an email on Sat. from a customer in TX. "The Franciscan Apple soup tureen arrived & we are thrilled with it. You did such an excellent job of packing. We are pleased & would like to keep in touch for any further business" Makes you warm all over when you get one like this.

Which tureen shape was it and how much did it go for?

micmic66 - We all want Elmer as a customer.
I had someone send me an additional $10 because they made me wait a few days for payment. Wasn't a big deal to me that payment was a couple of days late. It happens all the time.
Only wish I was dealing with more Elmer's right now. I had auctions end on Dec. 7th and still waiting for payments from three buyers. I had one twit send me an email a few minutes ago because I finally sent a NPBA and he writes, in his exact words by the way...
"look person, would it hurt to just put this item up for auction again, I mean cause clearly I don't have any money and I can't pay you and telling ebay isn't going to change that".
Sounds like a totally irresponsible person to me. Why do they bid if they don't intend to pay?
But we do love those Elmer types!

Hows the vacation going Fluff? I sent off the last of my pre sale stoppage items on Saturday morning and have never felt so liberated. Three days of no mail and no postal runs - I actually went to the mall for 5 hour today and not a single time thought of ebay. This is much too enjoyable - how will I ever motivate to start listing again?
(maybe when I realize that the other 75% of the new living room set I picked out today is due soon but that's still 6 weeks)

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

I've been on both sides as a buyer and seller. Last week I received an auction purchase with $1.30 cents in it for overcharging on shipping. That was really aprreciated and unexpected. I will buy from that seller again and recommend them to others. A little goes a long way in making a BIG impression.
