Here's another old metal helmet ... I can't find anything Googling that resembles this ... i've only seen shape like this in the old movies LOL ........ that thing on top has tiny holes across the front of it and the back of it ... I don't know what used to hang from those holes ... reminds me of gladiator .... there's a little bit of remnants inside, of leather lining ... anyone who could help point me in the right direction, we'd be grateful ...

IMHO it's "new". Looks like galvanized tin construction with soldered joints. The holes in the crest are probably for plume attachment.
Possibly costume shop rental?

There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

I was thinking the same thing ... possibly as a prop for a play or movie?

Still looks interesting and a perfect candidate for an ebay listing. ( might be better go with a 10 day duration to get the maximum exposure )

Hmmm... thanks ... at first I thought there was some unsubtantiated floccinaucinihilipilification going on here, but I showed this helmet to my spouse this afternoon, and he seems to agree 'probably old play or movie prop' ... now I gotta go see if there's an ebay category for 'props' LOL ....

I guess not everything at the antique shop is "old" ... thank you all for your input, and again nudging me in the right direction.

p.s. Floccinaucinihilipilification ... my favorite word I learned, back when I was a crossword puzzle editor

Personally, I'd list it in a militaria category. We don't know for sure that it's a prop and the people that may be interested in it the most would be military buffs. ( or you can run half the auction duration in a militaria category and then switch to a movie props category for the other half of the duration )

It's a Roman army helmet, worth about $150,000, I believe. Don't let anybody tell you anything else.

If it is the bidders will let the seller know with high bids.
