I bought a purse today that looks like a real Chanel but how do you tell. It was at a garage sale type thing. It has the chanel logo quilited into the side and bottom and is real leather. The Chanel with registered circle is inside and says made in France. I haven't taken any photos yet. I listed another purse I thought was authentic and it was a copy. That was a big mistake....I should have checked it out better. Another seller turned me in and got a nasty letter from ebay. If I list another fake I could get suspended yet I know this will do well if it is real.

Thanks for any help

you can take it to a store which sells channel products and they will tell you.

There are so many fakes out there I would be a little leary. Like stopwhinning said take it to a store. Don't risk losing your eBay status over this purse. I hope it is real.

Hi,

If it has a serial numbered tag inside it *might* be authentic. If there's no tag it's 99% likely a fake.

Don't take a chance on it if you can't authenticate it. The Chanel Vero police will be all over it.

Oh, been there, done that, not gonna do it again. LOL! I use my not-authentic-but-looks-like-the-real-deal Chanel tote when I'm on the train.

Lucy

editing to add, mine has the little metal doo-hickey inside too. Makes NO difference!

Watch the donut, not the hole.

I'm pretty sure it is a fake. It is a good one though. It is OK to sell fakes on ebay isn't it? I have a fake Burberry, Kate Spade and now this Chanel. As long as you say it is a copy or knockoff it is legal isn't it?

No, it's not legal to sell counterfeits. A knockoff is a resemblance of a designers work but without using the designers name. A counterfeit is a copy that has the designers name on it. It isn't just against ebay policy, it's against the law. Yes, some people still sell them but it doesn't make it right.

Gosh! After searching I finally found out you can't sell fakes. Whats the deal? If you tell them is fake. I saw two auctions last week that were selling fakes. Guess they just didn't get caught.

Thanks tsun.
