I received an email from a customer claiming that she did not receive an item she bought from Jan 6, 2003 and has been TOO BUSY to email. (she's hinting that I never sent item, but cashed payment) I dug through my receipts and found my electronic delivery confirmation, but of course the number is no longer in the system for this amount of time.

I called my post office and they seem to smell a rat - and suggested I send her an email letting her know that this item will got straight to the postal inspection office for further review. The box was good sized, not to be easily misplaced or to go unseen. She paid by check and the item is worth approx. $40.00.

I find it strange that she is sooo busy to email for 8 months but yet has every detail in her email, down to the check number. I can't even go into my post sale archive to check out her story, because it's been so long.

Would you refund, when you can't even confirm if the package arrived???

Tell her You will have postal Inspector to come by her house and investgate. that you had delivery confirmation. She can no longer neg you or any thing else. But thinking the postal inspector is on the way may change her mind.

Refund after 8 months no way! What a loony tune. Send her an email regarding when it was shipped and that she should have notified you months ago if there was a problem, then block her emails etc.

NO!!!! Trust your instincts. Send the e-mail saying you have the DC and you are turning it over to the PO for investigation. Don't tell her that the number isn't in the system. Tell her that eight months is an unreasonable delay and the DC proves that it was delivered. Maybe she misplaced it. If she can forget something as simple as to e-mail you for 8 months, she can forget getting a package. You certainly can't be held liable for her carelessness.

I had one just like this. I had no record of payment. She insisted that she paid- gave me details. I said send me the account number I wrote on the back of the check for deposit. Never did. She said she sent a copy of the check. That was a month ago. Still no check and no e-mails. Hmmmm.

I wouldn't worry about it, you have the information that you sent the package. There is no complaint with ebay. I would give here the DC number, and tell her to file a trace with her local post office.

Email other epople she bought from and se if they are getting the same claim.
She could be just emialing everyone she bought from figuring someone will give her some money back.

you can still check other places...check your feedback, did she leave feedback for you?....

check your email items sent folder...if you haven't emptied it you may have a copy where she had received the package and you thanked her for letting you know, etc.

I had this happen just a week ago on a package that was mailed 2 months ago...I emailed back that she had not requested insurance and the DC was no longer in the system for checking....suggested she check with her post office.

lo and behold, her hubby had received the package and forgot to tell her....yeah, right, I thought so!

after 8 months you do not owe this person anything!

Thanks everyone - emailed her that the postal inspector would be involved - she still wants to pursue the lost claim. I have looked through my stuff and can't find the insurance slip, but I do have the original electronic delivery confirmation. I'm going to file a lost package complaint at the post office and let it go at that.

I've blocked her from bidding on my auctions. She has no other feedback record of this in the past - and no negatives in the past six months - but she does have a record of leaving negatives on sellers, seems as if she has gotten knit picky in the past six months on her items.

She never left feedback regarding this transaction & I have learned my lesson about leaving feedback first with no confirmation of arrival from buyer.

It feels to me like she waited until there would be no way for anyone to confirm delivery, but according the sellers on this board she wouldn't get much sympathy.
