I opened a seperate account to sell off pieces of a personal collection that has been doing nothing but collecting dust. Iput in each auction that for speed and ease, payment was via PayPal only. One of my winners did not comprehend this and at auctions end sent me a lovely little note threatening me that I must provide her immediately with anaddress to send payment to or she would take action against me. I chose to wait a day to calm myself before responding to her idiocy and was rewarded with a neg. At which point I negged her back and waited to file a NPBA which I did last week. Tonight I recieve a lovely email from said twits brother threatening me with legal action because I have "stolen" $7.75 from this person, that their lawyer sent the payment via PayPal and tossing out a number of lovely additional threats of insults and demanding an appology for stating that his sister was illiterate in the feedback that I left.
Now granted, it is entirely possible that I over looked something so I went thru every transaction dating back to the closing date of the auction. I searched for both the transaction number and also for any trasaction with a total of $7.75....... nothing, nadda, nil.
I am so disgusted with this family of idiots I could scream. I don't care about the neg, it's the only one I have and every other customer is very happy (I have a 50% return rate of bidders each week) but the accusations and threats are wearing on my last nerve.
The one positive spot is the great laugh I got from the suggestion that I should retain counsel to defend myself in this case of the $7.75 order (with shipping mind you) to be filed by a inhabitant of Puerto Rico represented by a North Carolina lawyer. I'm dying to know where they plan on filing this case againstme, a California based seller. Maybe I should find a lawyer from Quebec and demand that jurisdiction be held in Iowa.

You need to turn these emails in to EBay. Threats are taken very seriously. Also, did you contact their ISP?
I don't know what has been going on lately. It seems EBay is flooded with idiot bidders that have nothing better to do than harass the sellers. They cheat, lie, commit auction interference, threaten harm, and just plain make your life miserable in order to get the ultimate deal - A FREE ITEM. More often than not, these are even big ticket items. They are no more than thugs and thieves in my book. I am blocking bidders right and left because of all the problems. Sadly, with the economy in the toilet, I don't see any immediate improvement.
Here's my theory. About 2 miles south of where I live, the neighborhood was drug and prostitute infested. Rather than take a serious look at the problem and devising a solution, the police eventually chased these people out of that neighborhood - right into mine! The problem is still there, only now it has moved to a new location. The malls and stores have more security than ever these days. It's getting harder and harder for petty thieves to steal and get away with it. So, they've been chased from the stores to (you guessed it) EBay where they can become anonymous and do their damage with little or no consequences. Just my theory.
Block these people from sending you email, do all the appropriate reporting and move on. $7.75 is not enough money to develop an ulcer over. Unfortunately, these people will eventuall find other sellers to harass.

Save yourself a lot of grief and just put them on your bidders and email block and move on. No point in wasting time on these crackpots any longer.
You gotta hand it to them... A lawyer for $7.75.Oh yeah!HAHAhaaaaaa

Thank goodness you were at least auctioning these things off under a separate ID. Compartmentalization has been crucial to maintaining my sanity on eBay!

Neon, I agree with CBlev Turn them into ebay do not respond to them or their threats I know it is hard thing to do believe me I know.
I have been going around and around with someone sending me emails with attachments ( a picture and a exe file )the email comes from XXXXX@ and the return path is the smae name just a different ISP and the guy I contacted is a idiot and mean mouth screaming at me in caps. so I just said the heack with it and turned both names into the ISPs.

I had replied last night night when I posted this and since one address was bouncing I also sent the reply to the address on the ebay account.
Tonight I get a hugely appologetic and confused letter from bidder. She is confused and bewildered as to what I am talking about in my reply and having no idea who Joe "apollogize to my sister you big meniehead" Schmoe is.
I must say she was very good and I nearly fell for it except for one tiny mistake... the one mistake that any frequent watcher of police dramas or Scooby Doo Mysteries should know better than to make........ I never said Joe Scmoe's name and did not include the email I was replying to.
I bidder blocked her long ago so I told her that I wa sick of the game, either make the paymennto or don't. in five more days I get to file FVC and truly be done with it. In the meantime - I'm thinking of turning Scappy Doo and Thelma on her.
