I've registered with Kovels.com but find it impossible to use their price guide! Perhaps this has been discussed here on AW before, and I'm just behind the 8-ball. I was looking for a silver mark (on a ladle I want to sell). I've tried in the past to search for things there but no dice. I just sent them a message asking their advice and got back an automated message within two minutes with all sorts of answers about how to retrieve/remember your password. Duhhh.
They even have a clickable link if the user is having trouble using their site, but that link's answers aren't sufficient. What is wrong with these people? Or with me?

Their TV show is also bad. Prices like the Antiques Road Show. Sorry I don't think anyone can predict what an item will bring. it all depends on who is around to bid on it.
Everyone is not on eBay all the time. Well not the buyers.
Post your mark here someone may recognize it or have some idea what it is.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Landotters: I've looked at all the sites you list and am still striking out. I"ll get a picture and post it here - and on the ebay Antiques message board, too. Such a mystery!
