I just received an "official-looking" login request embedded in an email from ebay just now. The sender's alledged address is [email protected] - the usual address ebay uses for communication.

It says: "Please Sign In...


For security reasons please re-enter your user ID and password. " all in the yellow colors & graphics that ebay uses when you sign in online.

This seems very suspect. I immediately forwarded it to rules & safety. Anyone else get this?

Why would ebay send a sign-in screen through an e-mail of course. First time I've been the recipient of a scam like that.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER will eBay send you something like that.

ANYTIME you get an email like that it is a SCAM.

You did the right thing by reporting it to eBay. If you are so inclined, you can also report it to the ISP of the sender.

As a test, I entered bogus info and was re-directed to this hosting site's IP address http://64.143.95.128/

This is one cool scam. I hope ebay turns this loser into authorities and fast.

I'd guess by your handle you already know this, but I'd clean out my "cookie jar" after getting to that site!

You bet.

What's really nervewracking is how they can dupe the sender's e-mail address so well.

Imagine if your bank e-mails you about an overdraft using the same techniques and someone logs into their account through this proxy website.

These people should rot in prison for these crimes, plain & simple.
