This might be a novel idea to some but I've made thousands of $$ buying stuff on ebay and selling it later.

I typically buy stuff on ebay in the summer then rebay it in the fall.

A few items come to mind. I found an old American Optical Monocular Indirect Ophthalmoscope with a BIN for $65. I couldn't hit the BIN fast enough. Sold it that fall for $415.

Recently I bought a "box of stuff" - a mix/match lot of bicycle parts for $112.00. When I got it I thought I would never get even on the deal. I listed the items separately and still have 3 or 4 to go. The box so far has brought in $262.

Am I the only one that does this?

well this really isnt in the ball park of antiques or 200 dollar profit items but i usually buy vintage hello kitty items or other 80s toys from ebay. recently i got a vintage hk coloring book for 1.50 and listed it and it went for $13. way more than i ever thought it would go for.

My best eBay buy was a "folding hand drill bit" for $5.00 It was an 1860s corkscrew that cleaned up nice. I put it back on in the proper category and title. It sold for $169.00

I bought 27 pairs of cufflinks for a BIN of $15.00. The first pair I listed sold for $27.00. I made about $200.00 altogether.

Bought a $200.00 machine once and the guys kid did not include all the parts when he packed it. The seller sent me the parts and threw in some "freebie" old political buttons as a goodwill measure. Most were repros, but I listed one of the JFK ones and the thing ended up being real and very collectible - I did not know it when I listed it for $5.00, so imagine my shock when the thing went for $400.00!!!!!!!

Made my month with that one - got my machine free and made a 200 dollar profit before even starting to use the machine I bought...
Wish that would happen again, SOON!!!

About half of my listings are re-bay. I only purchase items which I am sure I can get $50 or more profit on. I know many other sellers who do the same thing. We all use other ids for purchasing so none of the buying shows up on the selling ids.

My best re-bay was several years ago. I purchased a 19th century large dinnerware set by a certain maker, in a certain rare pattern, each piece hand painted high end by a factory artist. My purchase price with shipping was $3500. I pieced the set out, and when I was done, my profit after subtracting all costs was a bit over $12,000. I held back several pieces as a reminder of how wonderful it was to make that kind of money.

My best re-bay in recent months was purchasing one plate for $75, including shipping, identifying it correctly when I listed it and it sold for over $700.

I didn't post the above twice, but somehow the post got repeated. So I edited it out here. Sometimes glitches like that happen I guess.

I kindof have a twist on that. Once I bought a pair of very old compo Christmas items for $10. Gave one to my mom for Christmas and re-bayed the other one for $25. Lately I bought a pair of collectible salt and pepper shakers for $50. Mom just needed one to go with what she had. Re-bayed the other one and got $50 out of it by itself. I guess I am a cheapskate - I keep getting my mom's gifts for free!
