From a special edition of TAGnotes:
ebaY is holding a kind of free listing day on ebaY UK on
Thursday 6 June between 00:00:001am BT and 11:59:59pm BT
(the UK is 8 hours ahead of ebaY US so the start time on the US
west coast is 16:00 PT on 5 June ending 15:59 PT on 6 June)
Only listings in British Pounds Sterling on eBay.co.uk, which
include ebaY Billpoint Payments as a payment option will qualify
for free listing fees. Sellers must check the ebaY Billpoint
payments box in Section 4 of the Sell You Item form to indicate
acceptance of ebaY Billpoint Payments. The transaction does
NOT have to be completed through ebaY Billpoint payments to
qualify. Listings in Autos & Real Estate are not included in this
promotion. ebaY will only refund listing fees; all other fees apply
including final value fees, optional reserve price fees, gallery and
feature fees.
ebaY will CHARGE the sellers all fees, and then give them a
refund after 22 June 2002.

In addition, ebaY has been running a promotion trying to get
ebaY UK sellers to sign up with ebaY Billpoint payments. ebaY
Billpoint payments on the UK site only are free through 1 July
2002.
This promotion is open to UK registered ebaY sellers listing
items in pound sterling on the ebaY UK site. The item must be
listed and the transaction completed using ebaY Billpoint
payments.
This promotion has been running for a while but in TAG's view, it
obviously was not garnering sufficient participation. It appears
that ebaY has tried to sweeten the pot with the extra incentive of
refunding listing fees also. For more info on the payment
promotion go to -
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sellerguide/ep-promofaqs.html
TAG does NOT recommend use of ebaY Billpoint payments as
we are constantly getting complaints about the ebaY Billpoint
payment system and lack of service. ebaY Billpoint payments
service has been rated by the US Better Business Bureau as
unsatisfactory for their failure to address customer concerns and
problems.
To find the US BBB report, go to -

put Billpoint in the block that says - "company starts with" click on
search and on next page click on "report".

To many "qualifications", particularly the "BillPoint," which I won't use. I used to use the Yahoo system, at the same time I used Yahoo - bad move when you involve yourself with a payment system tied into an auction - personally I wouldn't consider using "BillPoint," beyond it being tied into eBay, I don't want the hassle of having to send one of their dumb invoices, it is an extra step I just don't need to do.

Ebay has restricted the free listing day so much that it has restricted anyone from having a free listing day!!!!!! When I choose to accept ebay payments I got the following error message!!???!!! Choose payment methods you'll accept from buyers.
eBay Payments - the eBay way to pay
Credit/Debit cards
eBay Payments is available only at eBay's U.S. sites in U.S. dollars.
