Of all the stupid things to do. Every so often I get this email from AW:

From: Service@AuctionWatch
To: Glassgrl
Subject: AuctionWatch.com account reminder

"This is an account reminder e-mail from AuctionWatch.com.
Your AuctionWatch.com username: glassgrl
Your AuctionWatch.com password: ****

You may now surf to http://www.auctionwatch.com/login.html and log into the site!"

Everybody but AW knows that email is not secure and if you don't think I know what my password is or that I can log onto the AW service, then I don't need to be here.

CEASE and DESIST forevermore to email me my password.

What ARE you thinking?

Why not email Auctionwatch and ask them. They should be able to tell you.....I don't think anyone here can help you unless a moderator comes in...

I am posting this here because Chris swiftly deleted my post in the Auction Management forum. So what do you think people? Are YOU getting the emails? Do you think enough is enough? Have you just been hitting the delete key, not giving it much thought? Or is everybody "having issues where you keep forgetting your password"?

Hi,

Feedback about AuctionWatch policy should be left in the feedback forum
only. The Auction Manager forum is for questions and answers about the
Auction Manager (sales manager now) product only.

Are you having issues where you keep forgetting your password and
needing it to be emailed to you again and again, or are you saying it
just keeps sending it to you, as if someone else was trying to get it?

Regards,
Chris

I think they want you to post your question in the following URL. Probably like any business certain people answer certain boards. Good Luck

NO I have never got email from auction watch with my user ID and Password in it and I havent got email of this nature from any other site I am registered with inless I forgot my password and requested it sent to me.

So if you are really getting these emails it could be someone is trying to work out away to get your AW password but just have not figured out how to get it forworded to there mail address.

Change your current email address you are registered with to AW and see if the email stop...

Well I will and can change my password at least. I just wanted to know if anybody else was getting these emails or what. It looked like the return path was valid on the email.
I guess anything is possible these days though.

Someone is trying to gain access to your account by entering your email address into the login system.

http://www.auctionwatch.com/lostpw.html

They are opting to have the password sent to your email address.

This isn't AW doing this, this is someone else.

I am not currently receiving this email from AW. This is someone trying to gain access to your account. A year ago, this happened to me, and I exchanged several emails with a moderator. They told me that someone could not find out your email account by doing this. LIES

This is AW's reply. Not much help here. Why would anyone want access to my AW account?

Hi,

It is formatted exactly how we send those letters, and did come from us.
Are you getting a lot of these, or just this one sent on 5/18? As I
mentioned before, it would seem someone else has a email address or ID
as you, and entered yours in by mistake - sending you your information
instead of to them.

Chris

Hi,

This is an annoying problem to deal with unfortunately, and sorry to
hear of your frustration with this. Someone else must have a similair
username or email address as yourself and needs to keep using the system
to have it emailed to them. I have forwarded along a requst to
engineering to look into ways around this as this is the first time such
a situation has arose. Perhaps there is some block we can place on the
account, but for now you will probably just want to change your password
when it is sent.

Chris

Maybe just maybe someone has the same password but uses only CAPS and goes in and forgets that and uses the lower case and keeps trying and trying. There is probably a system built in like at PayPal that if you enter your password more the x amount of times PayPal closes the account. Maybe when it happens at AW they in turn mail your password again to you. Places like AW, PayPal and eBay have to have a system in place to protect us and also them and I know 3x try at PayPal and you can't get in. If it was me I would change my password.
