Interesting story on how priority mail delivery actually takes on average a half day LONGER than first class mail. The USPS is such a ripoff, this proves it.

unlike ups or fed exp, usps does not have its own airplanes and have to rely on commercial airlines.
we just end up paying for that usps box and label.
but that big usps priority box if we have to buy it ourselves would cost a few dollars unless we buy many.

I know nothing is free, and you are paying for that box.
What really bothers me is when I see clerks at the post office (who are instructed by management to do this, so I don't hold them accountable) and they try to turn a two ounce letter, which costs 57 cents, into a priority mail sale, which costs $3.50 - Priority Mail - Now, if you are an average post office user and hear this, you would think, oh, for the extra money, I am going to get good service and it will get there quickly. Surprise, it takes LONGER! And for that extra $2.93 they will give you a little cardboard envelope which probably costs them a few cents to give you.
That is the TRUE ripoff of priority mail. For those using a #7 box and sending out a 2 pound item, there is no doubt that priority mail is a good deal. (That will change though very soon with the new rates, another story)

USPS sends/ ships anything by plane by....
FED-X....planes
Has been for the last 2-3 months or so. I think this is why the service is the way it is..... Do you really think fed-x is going to make sure a PO package gets handled better, then a fed-x package sitting right next to it. I don't think so .....

everything about the USPS sucks. I been noticing recently my small priority packages are taking FOREVER its hardly priority anymore.
anything of weight i ship fedex the difference between the 2 services is insane.

$3.50 for a 1# package is still a good deal in my opionion. A free box, tape and delivery cofirmation makes the pricing attractive for shippers.
Go out and price the box and tape and you'll see that it remains a good proposition.

$3.50 is a good deal for a one pound package (thought that will be going up, and a 17 ounce package might cost $5.70) - HOWEVER, is $3.50 a good price for a 2 ounce package? The post office must think so if they continually push their customers to use it, even though a 57 cent stamp will according to this report get there faster.

I have used both first class & Priority Mail. Anything that is over 1 pound is automatically Priority mail & you pay for it. Ever since 9-11-01 things have slowed down because of the scare of unknowns in pkgs. I always advertise in my TOS that I ship Priority Mail Insured within 24 hrs. of receipt of payment.(I don't take personal checks) I can ship from CA to anywhere in the continental US in 3 days via Priority mail & I have never had a pkg. lost.
