I see lots of post where people furnish a link and then say "don't know how to make it clickable" so I thought I would offer up a little "tutorial". If anyone has any more nifty know-hows feel free to post your little tricks of the trade!

This board is UBB not HTML. In UBB you place your commands in [] not <>.

So to make a link clickable, just start the url with:

[url*]http://www.auctionwatch.com/mesg/index.html[*/url]

I put the little * in so you could see how the link looks before posting, when you leave out the * you should get:

http://www.auctionwatch.com/mesg/index.html

Just so you'll know...even though you put the [url]and copy/paste your link right behind it, it will automatically jump the http://www.auctionwatch.com part down to the next line. So what you see when you actually c/p the link looks just a tad different than the finished product!!!!

That's clear as mud now, right????

I can see why the third party auction listing services get so many takers. Most people have trouble even posting a link or image on a standard message board.

When I found AW, I didn't know much more about my computer then how to turn it on.

I can [i*]now[/i*] use itallics. Just remove the * and you'll get ... now

I can do [b*]bold[/b*]. Remove the * and get... bold

In my auctions I have learned how to do a paragraph break using HTML <P> or <BR><BR> .

I can change my font size <FONT SIZE=4> I like 4. I think it's perfect with most browser default fonts. Big enough to read easy, not so big you end up having to scroll.

I can change color <FONT COLOR=NAVY>. I like that color too, easy on the eyes.

I still have a long way to go, 'cause I still have trouble remembering to close the fonts </FONT> at the end or nothing happens ...

I would never have learned how to do even this really simple stuff if someone hadn't posted it here.

That's why I LOVE this place!!!

Bids you showed us the end result of your "magic", but how about sharing your UBB and furnish us a "how-to" ....

Thanks dadofstickboy-That is a great spot and to be honest where I learned how to do my "font" thing! I had it bookmarked, but somewhere along the way, I deleted it! I had tried, in vain, to find it when I started this thread and am soooo glad someone posted it here!

Bids thanks! I had been trying to find a spot I could use for an "occasional" pic, that was free!

What about your ISP?
Didn't you get free web space with them?

"What about your ISP?

I affectionately refer to my ISP as "2 Guys & A Gal" because that is exactly what they are!

If it wasn't for the fact that one of the "guys" also owns the local telephone company (yeah we're that small) I probably wouldn't even have internet service. I had checked with the big boys, but there were no "local" numbers for dial-up and I sure couldn't afford to pay a phone charge each time I connected!

I will have to say, even as small and "bare-boned" as they are, they do a bang up job. I have only had my service interrupted 2 times in the last 2 years! One time for about 4 hours and once for a full 8! That's because they all had gone out of town at the same time!

The upside is, if I have a problem, I just pick up the phone and call them at home. If they don't answer, I can get in my car and drive over to their house 24/7!
