I sell men's ties. When I mail them out I use a bubble envelope, but do I really need a bubble envelope, can I mail them in just a plain clasp envelope? Is there anyone here that also sells ties? If so, what do you mail them in? Since the merchandise is used but good condition how would you feel if the tie you bid on arrived in a clasp envelope? Of course I always put the tie in a ziplock bag for water protection. My shipping charges are as close to actual as I can get so I will save money by doing the clasp envelopes.

Thanking everyone in advance for their opinions.

I am not a man but I don't see why that should be a problem. I assume they are shipped 1st class so that would save you some money and that always helps. I would keep putting them in a ziplock baggie.
Good luck

I sell mostly clothing on ebay and as long as you put the tie in a clean plastic bag or tissue paper .... shouldn't make a bit of difference what type of envelope you use

I would wrap the tie however you do your first wrap (mine is white tissue tied with a ribbon) with a stiff cardboard underwrap.

Then overwrap with bubble and stick it in an envelope. I'd probably use Tyvek (sturdier and more resistant to moisture than manila)

Fold over the excess of the envelope and tape it down.

Put on your label and send it on its way!

But if you use the cardboard and the bubble wrap, there goes the weight and you haven't saved a penny.

Your initial plan sounds good to me.

Overpackaging is just as bad as underpackaging.

I thought of Tyvek as well but then there is the expense unless you use the priority mail tyveks inside the brown envelope. Personally I would stick to the original idea as well

Thanks to everyone. I appreciate all the help that you gave me and I am going to go with the manilla envelope with the tie in the zip lock bag. I always wrap the tie in tissue paper and insert my invoice with my address on it just in case the envelope opens. I like the idea of folding the enveope to the size of the tie also. I am going to try different ways as suggested by all of you. Then the best feedback wins that is if feedback is left. I guess that is another thread.
Thanks again
