we have some old books we are listing and some pages have prints lightly tacked on the pages that one could I suppose take out and frame.

are these called plates ?

what is the differnce between these and the other plates that are actually printed on a page ? same book..

how should I describe these.

Here is a glossary of terms I find helpful. Sorry, don't know how to make it clickable.

Prints that are attached to the page are called "tipped in."

Depending on the book and illustrator, those kind of illustrations can make a book worth more.

tipped in plates can be framed,so someone may want to buy the book and sell the plates
