Hello all...I live in Portland, OR and sell mostly clothing...and sometimes collectibles. I would love to find a group of fellow sellers to have a "coffee support group" with once a month. In person, no typing! Anyone interested? I was so disappointed when eBay University came here this past summer and I missed it. It would've been an ideal place to meet up with fellow sellers (and buyers!) Think about it and if you're interested...let's put a group together. Mallary

Mallary: I live near Portland (used to live in SE but moved out to the sticks a decade ago). I might be interested in making the drive in once a month. I'll check back here to see if it looks like we can get anything going.
Thanks!
Argh

Good Luck to you guys. Wish I lived in Portland. I posted here about a month ago or so looking for sellers in Denver to do about the same thing. My ultimate goal was to possible split purchase loads....more cash and buying power = lower prices.

Anyway, I had no response.

There are already 3 of you. That's great!

I don't live near Portland but where I do live we have a very small group. We don't talk about ebay but we do have coffee and play scrabble. It's a great diversion. It sounds like you have a start to your group, good luck

Sounds interesting! I am in Gresham, and just moved here actually. I sell collectibles, but it does not matter what you sell really!

I have a small group here that meets quite regularly .. at Mom's house.

I meet with Mom, Dad, Sis & Brother & my 10-year-old, too.

Amazing what I have learned just by sharing information with other sellers in my family.

Oh, and the food is wonderful, too ..

Good luck to you in Portland. If I lived close enough I would join you!

I'm too far south to join you or I would! It sounds like it would be fun!
You might want to try to post something over in round table as I know there are a few Oregonians who frequent it. I am not sure where they live though.
Good luck!

I live in Portland and would be very interested in meeting with other eBayers. Sounds like you are the group leader, so LMK what to do next. Thanks for a fun idea

Thanks for all the responses...both from people interested and wishing us luck.

My suggestion is a Monday Morning ~ how about October 15th? There is a coffee shop called Papaginos located in the SE Woodstock area (close to Reed College) that has a nice atmosphere...good sized tables for gatherings and great goodies to eat. Its on the corner of Woodstock and 44th Avenue. Naturally I'm open to others suggestions too..we can go to different areas of Portland each month.

If you want to, bring any materials you'd like to share/trade or sell...anything that helps you with your business. There is a copy machine close by if anyone wants to make copies of shared charts etc. Monday is 10 cent day at one thrift store that I found a fabulous Armani Blazer a few months ago...people can go treasure hunting if they want to and I'll direct you to a dry cleaners that charges $1.75 for ANYTHING (except wedding gowns). Stars is open if anyone wants to do "research" together.

More ideas anyone?

One question, I have 2 kids, 1.5 and 4 - I would totally understand if people did not want kids there, just let me know what others think about that.

Hi AHC3 ~ I may be way off base, but I would like to suggest we keep it to adults only. I love kids, and have a 14 year old at home... But they can be distracting. eBay is very time consuming and I know that I have to guard my time. Perhaps there will be enough responses that two groups could be formed ~ one for Adults and one for Adults with children? If that is not possible, perhaps we could meet during after school times or on the weekend...I could see if my son would offer babysitting service. (But he won't change diapers.) Hope I have not offended any parents. Mallary

Not a problem Mallary, if you decide to meet on weekends, then I would be able to go alone. Good luck.

Actually I work longer hours trying to make a living on eBay than I did when I worked for someone else. But I enjoy what I do so its worth it. I'm not retired whatsoever at all. If the general concensus is to meet at an after 5 time, that could be discussed.

Maybe we could start an eBay group in the Boston area as well! Then in the spring or summer all the groups could meet for a 'meet your AW eBayer friends convention'!!!!

Anyone in the MA area game?

What's the alternative in the title of this thread?
Portland, or ... what?

"I live in West Linn"
Is that near West Lynn?

Capotasto, no one really lives in Portland all the buildings are just hollow facades, everyone moved years ago we just keep it around so the 'Blazers can have a full name as in "The Portland Trailblazers". Everybody really lives in suburbs such as: West Linn, Gresham, Beaverton, Millwaukee and so forth, please don't let this get around because many people here cling to the delusion that one day they will have a championship team again.
