I am scared to death. I mailed 6 packages on 09/10 and only 1 has arrived and only 1 of the others had insurance on it.
Does anyone else have people complaining of missing packages?
I have yet to have a package missing and cant imagine what I am going to do if 5 are missing. These were all sent priority mail.

Hi Jen,
I just returned from the post office and they said that all mail is still being trucked instead of by plane. She did not know when it was going to go back to regular as they use commercial planes and they are not allowing any "cargo" at this time.

They should arrive soon, just encourage your winners to be patient.

Good luck!

Don't be scared.

Remember, the day after you mailed your packages was the very day the mail came to a severe slow-down. All packages that were to be shipped more than 600 miles from the shipping point essentially sat around for awhile going nowhere, particularly Priority Mail packages.

On this past Monday, the 17th, the mail that had been "on hold" started moving as the airlines started accepting packages again.

I shipped quite a few Priority packages on the 12th, and some of them were just delivered yesterday. A few show as not having been delivered yet.

If any of your buyers give you any trouble over this, feel free to pass on the above facts regarding the slow-down of the mail due to the attack on the 11th. People who are strictly buyers honestly might not be aware of how the US mail was affected and to what degree.

From the USPS website:

Mail Service Updates - Domestic Mail

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Updated: Thursday, September 20, 2001 - 10AM

All cargo air carrier operations affecting the mail have returned to normal. These carriers are now carrying all categories of U.S. Mail, including First-Class Mail, Express Mail and Priority Mail.

The Federal Aviation Administration also has authorized commercial airlines to carry letter-size First-Class Mail.

The Postal Service has made special arrangements for cargo mail delivery flights to Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico

So either the website doesn't have their facts straight, or someone at Janet's PO doesn't.

Hi Bjgrolle
Thanks for posting that, I should send it to my post office!!!

Geeze!, Seems like the left hand never knows what the right hand is doing when it comes to the information we get from the postal service! ((grin))

I just came from there not 15 minutes ago.....

I got a media mail package in just under a week, so I think everything is pretty much on schedule. It might take a couple of extra days to get caught up, but other than that everyone should be fine.

Hi Jen,

Don't worry yet. One Priority package going only half way across the US, left the 1oth and arrived the 17th. That makes alot more out there.

I also received a payment mailed on the 8th
yesterday. LabRat4

Thanks everyone, I am feeling a little better. I am just wondering if by chance these items were on one of these planes. I had two packages going to California and 1 going to New Mexico. So there is a chance at least three of them may have been. The other two were going to Florida and Georgia so that would be doubtful.
Guess Ill just have to wait and see what happens.
Thanks again everyone,

Jen

That release by the PO is correct, so is the clerk at the PO.

Cargo carriers are Fedex and others that ONLY carry cargo, no passengers. THese are at full capacity. Commercial airlines are considered those that fly passengers and cargo and mail. These airlines are only accepting first class mail.

The mail is SLOW. Especially those caught in the 9/11 mess.

A trivial note - there was mail on those planes too

I am a Canadian seller, and I have over 40 items on the way to the US and England, mailed on the 5th onwards. I did have a couple arrive today, but I am concerned, especially about the fragile ones, I keep imagining them on the bottom of a pile of packages somewhere. I just hope they all arrive safely. It is hard to know whether to keep mailing, or wait until the backlog has been cleared up.

From what I've seen mail has been spotty, some of it as quick as normal, some VERY slow.

I shipped 2 packages last Friday.

1 went priority to Florida and was delivered Monday.

1 went to the other side of my own small Ohio town, parcel post, still hasn't arrived. I am getting worried.

I shipped out a Priority envelope from NC going to IL on Friday 9/14 which has not yet been delivered. On Monday 9/17 I shipped out another Priority which has not been delivered, but ALL of the Bound Printed Matter items that I shipped on Monday HAVE been delivered! Some as far away as NC to CA, WA and OR! Looks like right now BPM is as good as Priority and a whole lot cheaper!
