Everyone hates it when they have to put in the
Original reformat CD that came with their computer to reinstall Windows or reformat a hard drive after a virus. I am wondering if there is a way (or perhaps a program that
can be used) to create your own series of backup CDs to recreate your hard drive exactly as you had it before the virus. If there was a way to create such a disc or discs I could reformat my hard drive or reinstall windows but
still have all of my common programs.
(Netscape, Outlook, Real Audio, Adobe, etc)?

I have to agree with soothsayer. Norton Ghost is great. It will back up your entire system. I have a full backup of my system on 17 CDs. I had a drive crash last Tuesday (odd coincidence) and I had never had the opportunity to do a restore from Ghost yet. I put the first disc in and started the backup and off it went. It was a flawless restoration and I was back in business.
I got to thinking the day after that I'll probably install a second hard drive to make backups with Ghost very quick and painless (no disc swapping). I'd be more apt to make backups more frequently. Since Ghost compresses the data you can get away with a smaller hard drive than your original. Since 20G are commonly available at stores like Staples for $99 it's hard to make an excuse not to and it will save a lot of annoyance later on.
