I have been having an intermittant problem with ebay for the past week, but now it has become serious and I need help. In logging into my ebay, earlier, I was getting in ok, but occasionally, when I had to sent an NPB warning I'd enter my password and get a message that my browser wasn't accepting cookies. I could swear that it was, though, because I was zipping around ebay without having to sign in almost everywhere. It was only when I had to do this for certain functions that it wouldn't work. I signed out last night and when I tried to get into MYeBay today I found myself locked out and getting the same message to set my browser to accept cookies. I have AOL 6.0. I am not sure what the problem is, as I seem to be able to get in other places using cookies. Is Ebay having problems or is it me??

I wasn't having exactly the same problem but for several days I haven't been able to get ebay to accept my auctions. I asked ebay support for help and received a long letter about cookies. They must have made some changes recently. You probably need to contact them and have them send you the cookie information. I really didn't understand all of it. But fixed my problem by closing my ebay Store. And now my auctions load just fine. My trouble had something to do with trying to switch from loading items into my store versus loading them into a live auction. When I clicked on the regular auction tab, it kept saying "Due to prolonged inactivity, please re enter your password and try again." I tried over and over for several days, no luck! Then closed the Store today and tried to load an auction. It worked. So for now, no Store!

I just got off the phone with AOL tech support who had me check my browser and set for Cookies. I checked and it apparently was set for Cookies. I double checked and set it again, and, again, got:
The browser you're using is rejecting cookies.
To sign in, you will need to set your browser to accept cookies.
Try signing in again. If your browser asks you to accept cookies, choose "accept" or "continue."
Perhaps your browser is not set to allow cookies. Go to "Help" on your browser to find out how to change this setting.
Perhaps your browser is old and cannot support cookies. You can upgrade to a newer browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape .
For more information, see Cookies .
Who should I contact with ebay here. It looks like they probably set up some new software with bugs in it. It's not working with me and I can't access or sign in for things.

Same problem here. Have never disabled anything having to do with accepting cookies...wouldn't know where to begin in the first place. I'm just comforted to know I"m not the only one getting this message. Any help would be appreciated.

I was a long-time AOL user until earlier this year. I used to have intermittent problems with AOL and eBay until I switched to Explorer (downloaded from the MS website-NOT the AOL version of Explorer). Might be worth trying for some of you.

Apparently there's some kind of bug in some new ebay software that's causing this. I found I had to click on the sign-in button at the upper right hand part of a page. It's working again to let me in "MyeBay". Even then I'm not sure about some of the other functions. It looks like ebay launched into this without fully testing it out to catch the glitches. I wonder who we should report this to at ebay. They may not be fully aware of it yet, as it acts like it's YOUR browser which caused the problem. I never had thse problems until they changed about a week or so back.

Friend of mines have the same problem with AOL 5.0 - cleaned off the temp files. Then access ebay via AOL versus www.ebay.com - in other words, use the AOL portal. Just type in ebay under AOL keyword. Seems to fix his problem.

The funny thing is I am not sure why it works. I thought AOL and IE share the same cookies. This experiment may indicate that this is not the case.
The other thing I don't understand is why this problem pop up recently. Everything was working for months. Something must have change and my money is on ebay.
By the way - AOL users - do not listen to AOL tech support when they ask you to erase everything and reinstall everything. This is the pat AOL answer for all problems and it is stupid. It does not work 99% of the time except waste your time or cause more problems. The AOL techies are newbies.

I was stuck in that loop but it has been fixed.
As posted in the other thread, I use a DSL for access so it may differ.
Quick BASIC AOL fix that has worked in the past and causes NO problems:
1) click on AOL
2) select system information
3) click utilities
4) click & empty Cache
5) click UnInstall
6) close & reboot
7) AOL will be automatically reinstalled and you will lose nothing (e-mails, etc)

I can't seem to do this on my machine. I'm afraid of bugging up things even more. I contacted Ebay about this and got the following:
Thank you for writing about the Input Errors you received while
attempting to Sign In to some functions of eBay. We are aware that some
members were experiencing this problem, and are working very hard to
identify and correct it. Usually, this occurs only on some Netscape
browsers. If you use Netscape, you may want to temporarily switch to a
MSIE browser in order to avoid this problem.
We apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your patience and
understanding. We're grateful to have you as a member of the eBay
community.

The hitch here is that I AM USING MSIE and it
still happens! It looks like ebay, in it's typical manner, installed software without properly testing it out. I have checked MSIE and it's set to accept cookies!
