I started a thread last night, encouraging those affected by the most recent outage to contact eBay and ask for a refund. I did it. Here's what I wrote:

I am requesting credit because ebay was down and it greatly affected my
auction. I would like credit for all fees (listing, gallery, final
value, etc.). I was contacted by a potential bidder who was planning to
bid $95 higher.
Here's their reply:

your item was affected by our short downtime.
I have gone ahead and submitted your credit request for the insertion,
gallery and final value fees to our billing department. Unless there
are any problems, your credit should be posted to your account within 7
to 10 business days.

GO FOR IT! If we hit eBay where it hurts, maybe they will stop doing maintenance at such peak times or start extending auctions for all outages.

Guess what they did the same for me! I had 15 auctioons end and they are refunding them all! Of course I would have done better to pay the fees and not lose on the bids but hey looks like they know they screwed up!

Make sure you check your account page carefully to insure you receive all your credits. A month or two ago I had requested listing & FVF credit on all auctions which had ended a certain night when eBay was down. I got all credits except one, which just happened to be the highest. It took MANY MANY emails and about 3 weeks before the credit finally showed up, despite the fact that every email I had received from various support people at eBay stated the credit would be applied in the "next 72 hours".

Yes, I got mine back aslo. Actually I only cared about one so I asked for the fees back on that one because I paid to feature it etc. . . They are returning all fees. The lady was very nice. I was reading a thread here were someone else asked and they were told no. I wonder if it is how you ask or where you right to or just who answers it . . . ? Most likely all 3.
