Something I've read about and don't totally understand...chargebacks. Sounds like something I REALLY don't want to experience, though.
Could someone here tell me which of the payment services (that can be used on ebay) are set up in such a way that chargebacks are (or are not) a possibility?
It is my understanding that if you take billpoint payments, you could experience a chargeback.

It is my understanding that if you take paypal, and are verified, and have delivery confirmaton, you could not experience a chargeback..
Is this correct? What about the others? Could I experience a chargeback if someone sent me paydirect? Or exchangepath? Or Propay?
What about webcertificates? Can people pay you with webcertificates? Chargebacks on these?

Good thread, I've often wondered about this myself.
I believe with Yahoo PayDirect you can NOT have chargebacks.
Another question I'd like to add, is what exactly happens with chargebacks? Does the CC company just take the buyer's word that they didn't receive the item? Could they say they just didn't like the item?
I've recently read about a person who did a charge-back on an item they purchased from a seller on Ebay, got their money back through the chargeback, and the buyer kept the item and didn't return it to the seller.

No matter how you go you can get chargebacks.
No way is any itermediatary going to eat anything.
The fact is that the law is in the favor of the buyer.
A dishonest but smart buyer will say he received the package but the box was empty. And say that he tried to contact the seller and they refusted to help. He will tell his credit card company this and they must reverse that charge and issue the chargeback.
The seller is always the one to get stiffed in this circumstance.
