A bidder won one of my auctions on September 16 and notified me that the payment was in the mail on September 22. Ever since then I've been watching the mail for it. Today I was going through my stack of junk mail before throwing it out. MY GOD -- I FOUND THE PAYMENT! The bidder had used an envelope from an organization well known for soliciting donations.
Screen your junk mail - it could be your "deadbeat" winning bidder's payment!

I see the same problem with email. As a bidder I have to be careful because I have received more that one EOA that had simply "Congratulations" or "You have won" on the subject line and I tend to dump it as spam.

Yet another reason to hate junk mail (and direct marketing in general): it disrupts one's normal (e)mail handling.

What's being done in the name of direct marketing nowadays is crazy.

A lot of people still use those tiny envelopes for payment...they are begging for trouble. They get stuck in magazines and junk mail flyers. Use a Number 10 envelope please bidders!

I sometimes mail payment in my company envelopes, and I try to remember to alert the seller via e-mail that my payment will come in this particular letterhead. One seller said she set my payment aside because I work for a financial company and she thought it was a bill collector!
