Actually, "strongly dislike" is too mild. I'll tell it like it is. I hate it.

If you add a counter, that counts as a revision. Later, if you catch an error in spelling, or find a poorly structured sentence and want to go back to change it, or want to change the title, there's two. Don't get the revision quite right and have to hit the back key? There's number three.

Spell checkers don't catch everything, like for instance, if you type "of" when you should have typed "or". I can't seem to always catch everything in a proof read, and it looks bad to have more than one revision. Once I was asked why I revised three times, and I had to fumble for an answer because I couldn't remember the exact reason.

Yes, I'll have to start adding counters when I submit the photos and be more careful in my proof reading, etc., but I like the old way better.

I've got a very good auction on right now with a nice description (except for one silly sounding sentence) and I hesitate to revise it because that stupid counter I added counts as one revision already.

I don't believe that most bidders realize this. I fear that if they see more than one revision, they'll think you can't decide what's up and what's down with the item.

Really? I always thought no one really cared whether or not an ad was revised. I know I don't.

Who really cares how many times the auction was revised? As long as the description is good I don't care if it took you 40 attempts.

As a bidder, whether the item was revised is the one thing I don't look at. I suppose that if you're a committed "watcher," when (or if) you remember to go back to bid, you'd need to check to see whether the item (if it's received no bids) has been revised, but otherwise the matter's moot, particularly when the "revision" is described as e.g. "text".

I think the "VR" - uh, functionality is pretty useless myself, but I wouldn't go so far as to say I "strongly dislike" it.

Really? I did have a bidder ask me what was up with 3 revisions on one auction I had. Ever since I've been paranoid about it. Of course that bidder went on to win it and saw it was as described, but...

I don't like it. We can agree to disagree.

As a seller AND buyer, I'd have to say that I have never looked at, or wondered about, the number of revisions an auction has.

loosecannon - If I had a bidder actually ask me that, it would take all my willpower to refrain from telling him/her to get a life. Of course, I'd be polite...because I wouldn't want to lose the business!

As a bidder, I never look. As a seller, I admit I have been hesitant to revise too often wondering if a bidder would ask why I did. However, never had anyone e-mail me asking.

I agree with HCQ in that it is pretty much a useless feature. Makes you wonder why they even put it on there!
