I don't know if this is still possible, but this actually happened to me.
With a feedback rating well over 100, I went to list some items a few months ago only to find that I was NOT A REGISTERED USER...
Since I had my credit card on file, I knew it was not for non-payment, and I hadn't done anything else wrong.
After investigating it, I found that my credit card had expired, and I was NARU'd for that reason.
Do not think that just because your MC or VISA sends you a new card for the same account with a new extended expiration date, that they also send the same info to Ebay!!!
All that Ebay saw in the info listed in my user status data was that I was paying for my auction fees with a credit card which had just expired!!!
Took me about a week to get reinstated, and cost me some money, sales, and embarassment.
Be sure to update your info with Ebay when you get a new CC from Visa or MC !!!

If I'm not mistaken, the CC companies can not notify any other company that your expiration date has been extended. Perhaps I'm wording that wrong, but to almost every company, once your CC expires, the information they have is no longer valid. It's the consumer's responsibility to go in and update that information.

Ebay has always, in the past, sent out notices when CC's are about to expire (30 days beforehand). This is standard throughout the industry. Once you receive that notice, it's recommended that you go in *or call, depending on the company* and update your files. This includes, name, address, CC #, and expiration date.

Any invalid information on file, can lead to, in eBay's case, NARU, and with other companies, closure of services.

The credit card I have on file has expired and ebay sent me a email that forewarned me of the situation. It gave me adequate time to relist a new/revised credit card. But if those emails are as dependable as the EOA emails, I wouldn't hold my breath!
