ACH payments go through the Federal Reserve clearing system and are usually credited to the recipient's account the next business day. In most countries where electronic payments are the norm they are often instantanous, or slightly delayed if done via "batching".
By the way ING bank which is headquartered in the Netherlands often does immediate transfers to other EU countries at no cost. Likewise incoming electronic transfers are free.

Some folks say they hate Paypal,we all hate Paypal for the fee it charges, but some folks have past unresolved dealings with Paypal, say they have a negative balance in their Paypal account.
No one wants to sit in front of the PC and keys in every seller's bank account data-ABA NUMBER,BANK NUMBER,NAME OF SELLER,not every seller wants to give out their bank data.
Say someone in Nigeria takes that information and have some checks printed with your Bank ABA number, bank account number, your name and address and start writing checks.
BTW,there is someone more hated than Paypal,it is the IRS!!!
