Isn't this more notice than we normally get? Maybe all of our witching paid off??

Had to look at my calender to make certain I was not imagining things. Guess they hope to allow time for everyone to be prepared to list. Wonder if they are concerned that new postal rates effective May 14th will reduce sales and FVF's.

When I post auction items on E-Bay it shows I'm being charged regular price. I'm not being charged the 20 cents.

One has to wonder if this is going to be worth a sellers time to even bother listing.

Thats what I get for working a public job 6 days a week, I don't even know what day it is. I caught that after I had posted a couple. At least most of what I posted was for 99 cents anyway.

Tuesday is a slow day,Monday is good as people who have been away for the weekend come back and want to see what are they missing!
Spend an extra dime and start the listing on another day.

Big whoop. Items always sell for much less during the listing promotions (too many items listed at once).

It's always fun to watch the auction counts:

I am not listing on their twenty cent day. Forget it. I am getting more sales now from my silly little website and I dont have to relist each week

I did not list. It looks like not near as many tried it this time. It isn't worth it to me anymore, even the 20 cent days. Ebay never gives an inch, they won't even let us use google check-out, which has been wonderful and it is my merchant account so how can they nix it?

I didn't list either... the last times that I listed on $0.20 days, I barely broke even. I am glad about one thing though... I was so busy last week, I didn't get my normal Sunday night auctions listed. Now, it's just as well... because they wouldn't have gotten good exposure at all competing with all the extra junk that's just been listed. I hate having stuff listed during the sale period, because it always brings the bidding down on other items.

BTW - Anyone else think that eBay must be worried about something??? Isn't this the FOURTH $0.20 listing day this year! That's an average of one a month! And even with that, they're having a hard time keeping listing numbers high!

I really think that ebay is fulfilling a promise they made when they raised store fees - to offer more listing sale days in the future. Because there are more, the fees went up.

Ebay well may have an agenda in offering these when they do (end of quarter, low listing counts etc) and I am sure they have worked a way to benefit from them - but I don't look a gift horse in the mouth. I use them and am thankful for them.

At the same time, I wouldn't put my "best stuff" out the week of a listing sale day. (Too bad I already had listed some before I knew about the sale.) With limited store visibility, the best way to get your items seen by a lot of eyes is to list a lot of items in core. I usually am disappointed in listing sale day sell-through percentage, but my store sales during the week usually more than make up for it.

That is the only good I see out of it anymore is that my store sales increase that week. I run a lot of items on sale this time but I think some of the other sellers had the same idea.

If I did not have a store, I would not list on special sale days. You would be giving your stuff away. But as a store owner, I feel that listing on those days is simply good business. It seems to be the only way to keep your store visible.

A Store without Core is a waste. Some weeks it appears that the only way buyers can find my store is via the link in my core listings.

My sell through wasn't great but I made about $400 in sells and sold something that was in my store since I opened it.
All in all I'm pleased.

Ditto - NOT a good listing sale week! I think the fact that the site was FULL of glitches had a lot to do with low sell through....should have been a FLD in my opinion. Think ebay will refund our listing fees? LOL

This was the worst I have ever done on a reduced or fld. I sold 10 things out of 80...not good.

I didn't participate in the listing sale... but I can say with certainty that it affected my other listings. Very sluggish week...

By the way, anyone else check out the charts at Medved? The listing counts are WAY down. With the exception of the normal dip in listings right at Christmas, the listings haven't been this low since 2004. I think that's one reason they've been trying so many listing sales lately... to inflate their listing numbers.

I agree with parkman, this was the worst reduced listing day I have had. It didn't even generate store sales. I didn't come close to breaking even.

Worst results in years!
I have to blame some of it on the problems with search ~ haven't seen that happen and go uncorrected for so long in a while ~ back in the days when eBaY would go down completely!

Worst I've ever done, lost my butt. I will never list for one of their 20 cent listing days again. I should have listened to the others who said it was a waste of time.

hope you dont mind me "chiming in."

i sold a sixstack g/wernick bookcase, 2 sets of chairs. totald $1300.
------------
now for the reality check:

the g/wernic was listed for aprox 70% of normal sale price. this was, until recently one of the really good categories for furniture sales.

the 2 sets chairs for lower than usually purchased at auction.

i did make decent profit; but nothing like the bidding process was, at one time.
--------------------
so, it is indeed miserable.

Sell-thru at 39%.

I had everything listed at give-away prices but I was just glad to see some of it go.

I closed my store yesterday and I think I am done listing until September. I got a summer job with United Airlines and I don't want to mess with the new USPS crap.

Auction counts are now lowest of the year.

Looks like ebay is planning these special promotions about once a month.

Maybe we will get another 20-cent listing day in a few weeks!
