Orleans,
I have owned, at various times, Mercedes, BMW, etc., and currently drive a Range Rover 4.0 (don't blame me, it was my wife's idea). You know, the REAL Range Rover.
That car has amazing features, and is a marvel of engineering. However, there is no way that part of what I paid for it isn't status, brand appeal, "pride of ownership", "pat on the back", etc. It clearly has a markup due to cachet. If my wife is willing to pay extra for that, or more accurately, realizes that she is paying for that when all she really wants is the tremendous capabilities of the vehicle, that's our right, but it would be stupid and immature of us to think that we're not also paying for a pat on the back.
If that same vehicle were made with a name CrapCar, and had no status, I would gladly buy it.

OMG Orleans - You call FTW a LEFT WINGER?? ROFL you obviously weren't around during the elections or during the dump Gov Jerry Brown campaign! She's no left winger and is no way emotionally attached to the idea of "Power Seller"!. My guess is she applied to see if Stone was right about having to have 98% FB the REGULAR WAY to qualify (he wasn't).
BTW my daughter spent her spring break in Biloxi cleaning up after the hurricaine.

YOu know what is amazing about you people, you think because you have an "idea" about something that everyone thinks like you! Projecting is what I believe the shrinks call it - It is always a sign of the lower classes to be attracted to a name for prestige to make up for their lack of social esteem. There was a time when wealthy people bought Mercedes because they would practically last forever. Have you ever looked under the hood of a vintage Mercedes and marveled at the incredible German Engineering? The value and craftsmanship that went into the engineering of this automobile along with the practicality and longevity of it was it's initial success. Now? Mercedes has sold out to the middle class wannabes who have no clue to why Mercedes was a desireable car in the first place. They only know the "REEEECH PEOPLE DRIVE EM" and as always the middle class want to "ape" their betters.
Good for your daughter! Its wonderful that she is down in Biloxi helping others. So what do want? a pat on the back?

Orleans -- Here's quick trick for you to use so people don't think you're not educated enough to know the proper use of the apostrophe:
If you use an apostrophe in this word: it's - it means "it is." If you don't use it, it is the possessive of "it."
Just thought I'd offer a little help. You seemed to need it.

I bought my Mercedes 25 years ago, for cash, and the person I sold it to still drives it. I hope you enjoy your Lexus.
You are weird, and I'm out of this thread. Sorry I got involved.

OH family Biz - don't read the content of what I am trying to do to educate you - pick apart my typos - afterall it is an internet chat board. Get a life! Trying to make you mules understand the difference between what is quality and what is an icon of status is useless. Go back to driving your haywagons and naysaying the "juicy grapes" just because you can't reach them.
OOOOO Claude, your name is hot...I like men who pay cash for cars...that really turns me on.

Besides PMS is just something small men made up so they would look less inadequate. See I'm not hostile at all. I'm just blunt. YOu are hostile and you project your hostility onto me so you don't have to admit that you are so pissed you can't light up.
I never meant to be a troll. I only meant to post my true feelings and ideas. But you have now labeled me a troll and turned me into a sterotype so that others will feel my words are without meaning and only meant to inflame. I truly meant everything I said with regards to symbols. It is too far over your heads, obviously, because no one can have a discussion without involving fragile eggshell egos. SO I do have better things to do so I will say goodnight...forever. I'm leaving the building and taking my magic fairy dust with me. My diva glitter and the sparkle of truth and sensual beauty that I gave to your dull oatmeal, sterotype driven lives for only a passing moment. In other words I have better things to do! I think our dull oatmeal driven lives have had about all the excitement we can take for the time being. You might get some takers down below at the Round Table. Up here we are working folks with not much time to ponder the power of truth and sensual beauty you think you impart. Good luck.

N.O.
F-ck U.
How am I suppose to clean up after a catagory 5 hurricane? sounds like a job for uncle sam to me...or maybe you.
Again, just my point. You expect Uncle Sam to do all the work and you run away from your responsibilities.
Then you state how come I haven't helped out. Actually I have. I sent supplies down to help in the relief effert.
Also, one thing you don't know is we had major damage from tornados only 5 days after Katrina. If it wasn't for Katrina, we would have been the headlines for some time. Did we sit back and cry, let Uncle Sam clean it up? Hell no. We pulled up our boot straps and cleaned up. Yes, Uncle Sam was there too, but everyone helped out. Two weeks after the storm, you could hardly tell that there was one.
How about right now. Much of the western part of our state is underwater as we speak from the spring snow thaw. Are they complaining? NO. Is the republican leadership taking care of business? YES. Are the locals pitching in to help out? YES. Am I going to help with the clean up when the water returns to normal levels? Have in the past and plan on it for the future.
So N.O., Shut your pie hole unless you wish to be constructive.
Now as far as the original post, yes the powerseller system is screwed up. Yes, I did earn my way in and have kept up the standard as it is written. However, there are many that have not kept the standards, like in the original example, that make the powerseller system a farce.

You know when you use profanity it is a sign of personal weakness.
Being one of the people who's house blew away...how am I suppose to clean it up?
with my bootstraps?
What about the Red Cross who took in billions and stole most of it?
This is not a matter of "cleaning up" it is a matter of "rebuilding". If the US Gov can rebuild Iraq then perhaps it can rebuild for its own.
You don't have a clue
You could never imagine the devastation.
You are limited.
As to your naive and yet again "limited" view of Powerseller. Yes there are bad apples in everything, "but you can't let that spoil the whole bunch girl" (M. Jackson)
Not everyone will meet your expectations, not even yourself.

Yo, 'O' -- Unless you can cite specific examples, please don't disparage the Red Cross. It's one of the best run charities with the most money collected going directly to the services they provide (last I heard about 91%).
I bet you know people who support the United Way, right? Did you know that they "use" about 11% of the money they take in to "manage" the distribution of funds to those who actually provide a service to those in need? You'd do better to give directly so that more of your donation goes to help people.
Just couldn't allow the comment about the Red Cross go without challenge.

I used to visit New Orleans almost every year.
If OG and Nagin are examples of the residents -it is truly pitiful!
Here is Nagin latest way of making New Orleans recovery hard.
http://www.forbes.com/home/feeds/ap/2006/04/05/ap2650699.html
Most of those that would have benefited , desperately need a place to live.
Most lived in the ghetto section of town. A great part of the residents of New Orleans were on public assistance BEFORE Katrina.
I just do not understand Nagin being so high minded and refusing what is provided.
Homestead FL was given trailers for those displaced during hurricane Andrew . They GLADLY accepted. Most in Homestead lost what they had worked hard to pay for.
I believe strongly in helping people but it will be hard as long as Nagin is there.
JUST MY OPINION

9/11 Contributions used to buy new phones.
Less than 10% of contributions to victims of San Diego Wildfires actually being distributed, the majority of funds were misdirected and it took legal action to get the $300K a year salaried direct to step down.
And now there is an FBI investigation into fraud and mismanagement in New Orleans
Before you stick up for these people you really should pay attention to the news. The FBI investigation was announced just a couple weeks ago. The red Cross does great work and has great intentions but losuy management. There have been similar incidents in New Jersey and San Fransisco as well.

Duer you are just a judgemental nerd. You don't know how New Orleans works. That would be a Fema Crack town, filled with hos'and crack heads in about 15 mintues. Plus they would rape and pillage the homeowners. Get a clue, its not a Walt Disney World. You are the one who it truly pitiful because you are an isolated nobody who gets his life on the online news. Why don't you get off your AZZ and take a drive down there?
The Red Cross SUCKS. THE END!
YOu would be better off to drive to new orleans or Mississippi and just give people the money.
Churchs came through the best and the fastest. Truck loads of food and comfort came flying in to the area. The Red Cross showed up and took up the hotel rooms. That was great. THe homeless and devasted had to sleep in their cars while the Red Cross slept safely and soundly at the Marriot on the exclusive North Shore which is about 30 minutes across the bridge from New Orleans. They suck, they stink and they can eat SHEEEEEET and hell can freeze over twice before I would give the a penny.
One Red Cross Shelter in FOley Alabama actually took the food that was delivered by the locals and kept it for themselves! It was in the local paper. Most people ran to the Church Shelters were they were fed and clothed and helped. SO you don't know what in the HELL you are talking about when it comes to the "DEAD CROSS" (red cross) been there done that.

So stick that in your pipe and smoke it OG. And do the rest of us all a favor and next time take your comments to the RT and not the ebay board.
