Ok, here is my beloved Margot Kiddy at Christmas, she is in the hospital right now having a radio-iodine treatment.. and not too happy about it at all from what the nurse tells me!

Hello Mouseslayer Thank you
for your kind words. Tigger keeps
looking and calling for Adora...and
stays pretty close to me (he used
to be much more independent.)

As for me it always takes a long
time for the pain to fade.
The problem with being a Sr.
Citizen is that even tho my little
fur people live long lives I am going
to outlive most of them.
Meya Your sweet Stormie is sooo
cuddely looking with her little
friends.

Basicbrian What is the radio-
iodine treatment for, thyroid? How
old is your Margot Kiddy (love the
play on words)

Hi Zilvy, yes, the treatment is for hyper-thyroid. We always thought she was extreeeeeeeemly healthy and playful. She is 16 years old (and quite kittenish) right now. She has to be kept in isolation until Friday. Poor thing is going to be mad at mommy I'm afraid. She probably thinks she's been abandoned. So far the bill for this one, including pre tests and what not, is up to 700 and climbing!

The things we do for love!

Peepers is a beautiful Puddy.
My Tigger is telling me it is time for
bed, it is 11:45 PM and he likes to be
settled in by 11:30. He's making such
loud calls at the bedroom door I am
going to have to call it a night before
he wakes TM.

Love the "Got Milk" Meya.

Sorry, Punkin, but you were stone cold busted, I just can't catch it on film, LOL...ahhhh, cats

mcjane-what a pretty cat.

Kaffro-The fishbowl thing reminds me of my daughters cat. She bought one of those indoor relaxation fountains. It would work for a day or so then start making an awful noise. They do that when the water gets low, but she didn't understand how it evaporated so quickly. Turned out her kitty had decided it was drinking fountain. It's almost impossible to catch them in the act.

Stacy is 10 years old!! She is not exactly a stray, but was unwanted by the people who had her. She was about 4 months old when we said we would take her. She is devoted to my husband & he to her. I found a good way to get pictures the way I want them. She is out on the deck & this was taken through the glass door. I could never get her to sit that still for a picture in the house , but she will sit still at the door when she is ready to come in. My husband was in the kitchen & she is watching him.
This camera is a Sony Mavica FD73 & I bought it about a month ago on the advice of many posters on AW. How right they were it's a great camera so easy to use & well worth the price.

A few days ago my husband came home with a treat for the cats - cushions. One cat loves to sleep on his cushion. The second thinks it's icky - he spreads his toes and tries to keep from touching it as he springs out of its reach. The third cat likes the pad but prefers the box that it came in. He'll protect his box against all interlopers.

Here he is enjoying his lair.

If another cat comes near, he springs into action.

and sends the intruder fleeing.

Then he returns to the box to have a beer and relax.

Uh-oh, didn't work. I'll try again.

Here's a great workout program I heard about:

Cat fitness really can be fun. However, it is important to start any fitness program only when you feel like it. Don't let a few extra pounds intimidate you into becoming more active. The most important aspect of fitness is: when to start the program. The best time is at about 2 a.m. The house is quiet; there are no distractions. The warm-up is critical. Cats are experts at stretching, so this won't be a problem. Start with a few wind sprints, full speed, toenails clicking on the tile or linoleum floors. A few low but loud growls will help you feel charged up.

Now it is time to add some eye-paw coordination work. Find a marble (the big steelies work even better) and roll that down the floor as the sprints continue. See how many times you can ricochet it off the wallboards before it disappears under the fridge. Finally, work on that upper body strength. Climbing is a great exercise. Use draperies, macramé plant hangers, or clothing on hangers. You can even find some carpeting on some basement walls. Backs of chairs work well, too.

Now put it all together. A speed sprint to the end of the hall! A race around the living room! Leap to the back of the rocking chair! Let the rebound launch you to the top of the swinging planter! Rock that baby! Feel those muscles work. Just as the hook pulls loose from the ceiling, dash to the bedroom and dive under the covers. Establish your alibi just in time to hear the crash of the plant to the floor below.

Good Work-Out!

The next two posts are not written by me, author unknown:

Cat Haiku

The rule for today -
Touch my tail, I shred your hand.
New rule tomorrow.

Grace personified.
I leap into the window.
I meant to do that.

The Big Ones snore now.
Every room is dark and cold.
Time for "Cup Hockey".

You're always typing.
Well, let's see you ignore my
sitting on your hands.

You never feed me.
Perhaps I'll sleep on your face.
That will sure show you.

I want to be close
to you. Can I fit my head
inside your armpit?

My small cardboard box.
You cannot see me if I
can just hide my head.

Humans are so strange.
Mine lies still in bed, then screams.
My claws are not that sharp.

Blur of motion, then -
silence, me, a paper bag.
What is so funny?

Cats meow out of angst
"Thumbs! If only we had thumbs!
We could do so much!"

Cat Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray this cushy life to keep.
I pray for toys that look like mice,
And sofa cushions, soft and nice.
I pray for gourmet kitty snacks,
And someone nice to scratch my back,
For windowsills all warm and bright,
For shadows to explore at night.
I pray I'll always stay real cool
And keep the secret feline rule
To NEVER tell a human that
The world is really ruled by CATS!
