Oooh, what a cool artsy pic EG! (The one in the window.) When my desk was in front of the window mine used to fight over it too. Especially since that's the screen the geckos climb on

Ready for more pics? Here we go...

Here's Charlie, Rascal and Yoyo in that window I talked about before:

Mouseslayer: LOL! OMG, that picture of Charlie with the big eyes is hilarious!

Keep on posting your pics! I'm loving them! I will try to post some more also when I get a few minutes. Had 150+ auctions end a few minutes ago so I'm kinda swamped right now - but had to take a little "kitty break"!

Hehe, at least someone is still following this thread

Her little mustache reminded me of Charlie Chaplan Besides, there's a perfuma called Charlie, so it can be a girl name, right??

Hi Everyone! Great cat pics!

Let me start off by saying, I have never been a big cat lover, I don't know why, just never was...all that changed this past September! My hubby worked a job where there were a bunch of cats outside of the building he worked in. I went there one day to see him and there was this little grey kitten wandering around. He kept following me everywhere and Coby, my two year old asked if we could put him in the car and take him home. I was hesitant at first, just because I wasn't sure I wanted a cat. But I told my son that we could. We brought the cat home, we named him "slater" but somehow that changed to "puss puss" or just "puss". He really grew on me, he followed me around everywhere, slept right next to me on the pillow and draped himself across the back of my computer chair while I'd sit at the computer working...I fell in love with this animal! He was just so cool. In October we got a second kitten, my friend's cat had kittens and had one left and begged me to take it...so, I did, her name is Punkin. December came and Puss was starting to show the signs of wanting "a little action" My hubby and I decided to get him fixed. So we made the appointment and my hubby took him on a Friday morning. Our vet called us late Friday afternoon to let us know that there were complcations during surgery and they wanted to keep him overnight for observation. He had gone into cardiac arrest during surgery...an apparent allergy to the anesthesia. So Saturday she called and said there was no change, she wanted him overnight again. Sunday the same thing. Monday morning, she calls and tells us that the Puss died...I was devastated. He'd gone into cardiac arrest again late Sunday evening and they couldn't save him. I cried like a baby, remember...I wasn't a cat lover, but this little animal had grown on me something fierce. My hubby and I dug for 3 hours in the frozen ground to make a place for my beloved Puss Puss in our backyard. I cried the entire time...I even made him a "garden stone" for the place he's laid to rest. I still get teary when I think of him...I really miss him!

Here's some pics:

Dear Kaffro, my eyes are brimming too, it is so sad to lose the little innocent ones that have made a place in our heart. My deepest sympathies to you on the loss of your litte fur purrrson. When the time is right open your heart to another to be a companion for Punkin. She will miss him too.

I love the pictures! I've had cats all of my life, but DH is not crazy about them. we did have one, however, that he was quite attached to, a stray.

We got in the car one rainy night to start to church, and when hubby turned on the engine, we knew immediately that a cat had gotten caught in the fanbelt. DH took me and the boys to church so that he could come back and 'dispose' of the dead cat before the kids saw it.

Three hours later he returned. The cat was still alive, so hubby drove 24 miles to the vet with this cat bleeding all over the car seat. He had to have his tail amputated, his leg in a cast, and spent 3 days in kitty ICU. When we went to get him, we had a 150 dollar vet bill!

He turned out to be the best cat we ever had, and hubby was converted to cats-of course, he claimed he was just protecting his investment!

Wow, I was just thinking about this thread the other day and how my computer died and I can't put up new pics! Nice to see it back up here

Zilvy, we had a Maine Coon named Tigger too. He was lighter gray, but similar to your Tigger.

Kaffro, I'm so sorry to hear about Puss. That has always been one of my biggest fears when they go in for surgery. They can do some testing beforehand to see if there will be problems. Might want to consider it next time? By the way, LOVE your pics! The bathtub one is a hoot!

bearmom, great story too!

Wow! Great pics and wonderful stories about your cats everyone! Some sad stories too, but I appreciate those as well. My sympathies go out to those of you who have lost furkids. I don't have cats (although I would love to be "owned" by one) but here is a picture of my ferrets. From left to right is Chopper, Scooter and Hawg. Chopper was found by some kids in the neighborhood. They went door to door asking if anyone had lost a ferret. No one had and my boyfriend told them if they don't find the owner to come back and he would buy the ferret. They came back two weeks later and we had a new fert. That was Chopper. We think he is four or five years old at least. Scooter came from the pet store when he was a baby. We were on the servicar, so the staff at the pet store found a cardboard box to put him in, (oddly enough it was a Harley Davidson motor oil box) and we took him home. He didn't appreciate his first ride IN a Harley (as he went into the trunk). I felt absolutely terrible about putting him there, but Scooter likes to be popped into a backpack now and go for rides on my Sportster. People behind me get a kick out of the little pink nose peeking out of my pack when I'm going down the road. For my birthday I'm going to have a tank bag made for Scooter. Hawg came from a friend of ours who owns a pet store. He was a leftover Christmas ferret. Linda knew she wasn't going to be able to get rid of him (she had several) and asked my boyfriend if he wanted him. As he was the biggest ferret, my boyfriend said yes. Hawg has adjusted nicely. He was six months old when we adopted him and was an absolute terror. Anyhoo, I hope nobody minds my ferret stories.

xlhgirlCute ferrets! They are neat little animals!

Mouseslayer - Our vet was so puzzled by the outcome of Puss, she even went as far as to autopsy him at their expense to see if in fact there was something that their tests didn't catch. She even sent us a sympathy card, which was very touching. She hasn't gotten the results back from the autopsy, but promised to call us as soon as she did.

My son saw the pictures that I posted here and he said "Mommy there's puss puss...he's in heaven with God"...brought me to tears

Kaffro: I lost my first Shar-pei during surgery years ago. He, too, had a bad reaction to the anesthetic (turns out Shar-peis are *very* sensitive to it). I learned after that that there are two types of anesthetics used by vet. I never can remember their names, but one (the more expensive one, of course) is easier on the animal. To this day, when *any* of my animals has to be put under I specify that *that* anesthetic be used--and ask several times just to be sure.

This is a great thread, I love all the stories (unfortunately) my puter is limping along and I can't see any pictures...waiting to contact Gateway on Monday since AOL did a real number on me and made it worse...

xhlgirl I can hardly wait to be able to see your ferrets, we would love to have a couple but we were always just a tad worried that the Kitty Kats would think they were lunch or at least a fun snack, ie. a Happy meal. When we would go to NH & buy cases of cat food (no sales tax up there) we would always stand around watching the little ferrets cavorting and having a fun time.

Mouseslayer Tigger is the best purring paperweight in the businsess...course he bites my pen if I try to write a note on something he is holding down. He is diabetic and doing very well on insulin and regulated diet. He weighed almost 18 lb. when we adopted him and my vet didn't say anything about his weight at the time. Then he started drinking a lot of water and losing weight...his sugar was 455 when we had him tested, last test 145 and his weight is stable at 12-1/2 pounds. He goes again this month for another blood draw. I have to bring up the carrier at night when he is in the bedroom, hide it under a sheet ( a different place each time) and get him into it quick in a hurry....he hates going in the car!
When we get back home he will come into the family room where I am reading, yeowl at me to get my attention and then plunk his rump down with a thump....back to me!! Only his ears move when I try to cajole him to get up on the couch with me. I guess he is showing me what he thinks of my tactics and car ride!!

Zilvy, its been my experience that cats don't want anything to do with ferrets. Most of them run away. I think it has to do with the natural enemy thing. Of course, that's just been with adult ferrets, it might be different with a kit.

Meya I am so glad you posted your crew, I was surprised that you had not taken part in this thread in January. That because your brief bio indicated CATS are special to you. I can hardly wait til I can see the pictures.
This is the first time I have had a 'puter problem in almost 3 years, I am hoping Monday that Gateway will be able to help me.

She does have 2 eyes. She hates the camera so I'm lucky to get any picture of her at all. Her name is Annabelle, "Annie", we found her where she had been dumped, by a dumpster. Or rather she found us. That was 2 1/2 years ago.

kaffro I also am heartbroken by your loss. Please consider an animal shelter to find & save the life of another cat that needs someone to love & care for him.

I have 7 cats, all strays. Here is one & his name is Ziggy. He wants to go out & explore the woods, but it's raining.

This next one is our Irish Setter Maggie.

This third picture is some deer that come to our bird feeder daily to eat apples that we put out & any fallen sunflower seed.

Here's another photo of Pepper, the stray cat I mentioned earlier who is considering letting us adopt him!

I had a long talk with a vet tech at our animal clinic. We've decided to try and get him into the vet's next month before we leave on vacation. They'll neuter him and then keep him for the week while we're gone. Hopefully, then we'll be able to get him to adjust to being an indoor cat instead of an indoor/outdoor cat. Now that the weather is slightly warmer here in NE Ohio, Pepper wants to be outdoors more. You can tell by the scratched nose, he's apparently a lover not a fighter!

Kaffro, sorry to hear about your loss of Puss. What a cutie.

Kaffro: I LOVE your pictures! I really like the one of the three of them sleeping. Totally relaxed

Meya, Atticus could be K.D.'s brother. What a handsome cat! I remember the waving Stormie pic, I still get a kick out of it

december3, nice to see your furr-baby too! Glad to see you join in

mcjane, great pics too! I love the one of Maggie, what a pretty girl

xlhgrl, love the ferret pic! I've always wanted them myself, but I always have so many cats. Maybe another lifetime

Zilvy, our Buddy last weighed in at 20+ lbs. I don't think he's diabetic though, just huge! Our Tigger was asmatic. The vet gave us pills to give to him, but he didn't let us get more than a half a dozen down him. Since I was the one to give them to him, he always ran from me. He was wild when we got him and after I moved out, he wouldn't have anything to do with me. It made me sad
