DrArcane, I dismiss your comments so fast that a silly LOL would not irritate me. Join Linda and LOL your little heart away.

Arcane, I have a couple of those legal divinity licenses too. I've presided at the weddings of several couples. Big deal. Anybody with 5 minutes can get ordained, legally. In fact, I think we should all do it here. Then we can all sit around and call ourselves Doctor or Reverend or Our Lady of Perpetual Motion or something..I've also studied religion and philosophy at the undergraduate and graduate level, and religion and it's cultural basis has been an abiding interest of mine for 40 years or more. Again, big deal. Anybody here has a right to their opinion and to express it. You've intentionally set yourself up as some sort of academic expert on the subject, and now you're pissy when people take potshots at your presumed expertise. Get a thicker hide if you can find one in the religious studies department anywhere.

Statements like this:

This thread is just so incredibly dense with obvious troll-posts, I can't believe I'm even TRYING with this one.

and

Not ONE of those sayings is from the Christian Bible (New Testament). Every single one of those is from the Jewish Bible (Old Testament). Christians simply see the Old Testament as historical information, not as law. Jews see the OT as LAW, and don't believe the NT.

and

I'm not seeing anyone else here who knows the first thing about the subject. I'm not seeing profe come up with any facts, just his opinions on what he thinks Christians and Jews are like.

and

These facts are just too basic to argue. You aren't agreeing with my facts because you don't WANT TO, not because I'm wrong.

are all the evidence anyone needs to understand that a) you're not really interested in discussing the subject; you just want everyone here to accept you as some sort of religious authority and b) it may be because you're insecure in the depth of your chosen field of interest.

I can hear your professors' lectures and practically read your class notes in everything you say on this subject. Stay in school.

Dr. Arcane said, in part to hellen: "Maybe I should throw in a few LOLs just to irritate you further."

Don't you dare...that is MY job around here....and I already do it quite well, thank you anyway. LOL LOL LOL

See there?

-----------------

As far as you giving/sharing your opinion about what you're learning...I think it's great that you share it with others. I don't take it as you making any statement that 'you know it all' by any means.

That's their own faulty perception, imo.

Nothing more.

People like nerfballwillie are hateful people....who are VERY confused about who is 'evil' and who isn't.

They're just as confused as are atheists like hellen are.

It's just MORE Christian bashing. I've never known nor heard a Christian in my whole life call for the death or say that they support killing babies.

That is the left's position, politically. THEY support abortions on the whole. THAT is killing little babies.

"Besides, not only am I legally ordained (just like Colin, BTW), but in fact DO have both a legal DD (Doctor of Divinity) aswell as a PhD (If Colin has one of these, he's never said so). Granted, it's not going to get me a teaching job, but it is in fact legal."

I have to guess your doing better then the Prof.

I think we could both get teaching degrees, if he's got one.

If I remember he got his at the Mexico City Immigration, or something like that.

He believes he's a scholar on all subjects. He not only has an opinion but his is the final interpretation on all that is known and some that’s not known yet.

The thing that bothers me most about him is:

He's a sheep herder.

You know what they say,

"You can tell a sheep herder but you can't tell them much."

Asking Colin and Dr. Arcane about christianity is like asking a 4 year old child about the artistic value of Claude Monet. Just because a child can open a crackerjack box and lick a tattoo onto their arm doesn't make them an expert on art, just as Colin and Dr. Arcane holding a bible doesn't make them an expert on divinity.

Colin, your statements are too predictable to respond to. 83% of your posts include you calling someone gay. Especially anytime someone is discussing a subject on which you know little to nothing about, which happens all too often. You bore most of us.

Linda_K...People like nerfballwillie are hateful people....who are VERY confused about who is 'evil' and who isn't.

Did you even read anything in this post. The references I made are in the Bible. If you don't think that behavior is evil, let it be known. Me personally, I don't support smashing babies heads against rocks, which is one of many reasons I don't put any stock in what the Bible says.

How does that make me hateful?

Nerf- If Linduh doesn't agree with you, or you mention the Bible, Christianity, George Bush, Abortion, or any other topic that the neofacist will disagree with you about, you are hateful. You should know better than that.

Neofacists like Colon, BearPorn and Linduh all love to sound like they know what they are talking about, but all they really ever accomplish is making the Conservative movement look like a bunch of rednecks line dancing on a Friday night. I'm telling ya, they are not only Anti-American, but anti-Conservatism. It is quite embarrassing they think themselves Republican.

Yeah, like I'd EVER listen to two atheists talk about God or Jesus and believe they had any knowledge on religion.

Atheists and Agnostics tend to know more about the Bible than believers.

That is no coincidence.

Nope.....I'm not buying that garbage either.

What atheists lack is FAITH....a belief in something they can't touch...feel...or prove....but Christian's KNOW is there...

----

And ANY religious person raised in any Christian church who has attended Bible study for most of their lives....would run circles around you.

Don't fool yourself.

And don't break your arm trying to pat yourself on the back about something that's JUST NOT TRUE.

You flatter yourself....without reason.

Don't pretend to know how or where I've obtained my knowledge. We can put it to the test right now. I challenge you or anybody else to "run circles around me" in the subject of religion in general or Christianity specifically.

And don't get mad at me beause your Bible is full of evil. You should have actually studied it before you placed all your "faith" in it.

Somebody in this thread even said that the New Testament came to replace the Old Testament, and nobody challenged the statement. That shows the level of ignorance on the subject. Christ himself said he came not to bring peace, but a sword. Well, that's what they say he said in the bible. That not one jot nor tittle shall change of the old law. Yet it is more comfortable to believe what you want - faith as you call it. Ignorance is another term for faith.

If god really commanded the Jews to crucify anybody that challenged them on religion, then came down and took upon flesh, and was crucified for challenging them on religion - didn't he reap what he had sown? Or should they have disregarded his commandments because the David Copperfield of their time told them to?

Christianity supports slavery, inequality for women, stoning for "immorality" and on and on - are these just quaint ideas, or doctrine for Christians? No religion has done more to support slavery on the one hand, and obedience and docility amongst the enslaved on the other.

Ephesians 6:5...Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ

1 Peter 2:18...Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.

1 Corinthians 14:34...Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.

I didn't even bother with the Old Testament, since I covered that at the start of the thread.

Perhaps it is the contradictions that make it such a great book to live by.

Ezekial 18:20...The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father

Exodus 20:5...I the lord thy god am a jealous god, visiting the iniquities of the father onto the children to the 3rd and 4th generations.

Or my favorite...

Matthew 10:34...Think not that I am come to bring peace on earth: I came not to bring peace but a sword. (That was Jesus)

Matthew 26:52...all they that take the sword, shall perish with the sword (That was Jesus, too. Creepy isn't it?)

The Church hates a thinker for the same reason a criminal hates the cops.

As it says in the great book of Ecclesiates 1:18...For in much wisdom is much grief; and he that increaseth knowledge, increaseth sorrow.

Or translated for you - ignorance is bliss.

Oh yeah, I can tell by your OP HATEFILLED topic "Christians Are Evil" and your bigoted question about God hating children that you're just FULL of knowledge of the Christian faith. NOT!!!

This is NOTHING by hate speech and Christian BASHING....and it reflects your atheistic belief system.

Nerfball, nobody on the right will discuss this topic without calling you a 'hateful sinning athiest socialist troll'. When you repeat the question or post, they'll claim they already answered all of your questions and will accuse you of not being able to read. (BTW - calling you the hateful sinning athiest socialist troll WAS the answer to all your questions.) They'll try and get you to repeat yourself for days, then claim you're stalking them if you try and continue the discussion. The fun part is they don't think anyone else notices while they go on and on about how victorious they are at squashing the left, repeating lines like the people have spoken and Bush rules, etc. I call it the "Baghdad Bob Psychosis".

nerfballwillie....meet KD. She likes nut cases like you that go around spewing garbage about 'Christians are evil'...'they support killing babies'....and 'why does God hate babies so much'.

She'll be the FIRST one to make you think you're a normal person rather than another bigotted troll...bashing religion - that you really are.

You two should get along swimmingly. LOL You're two of a kind.
