DeSquirrel, are you saying the reports are false? The soldiers really don't need more body and vehicle armour? Why did all those troops (2000+) cheer when U.S. Army Spc. Thomas Wilson asked the question Helen posted?

Ohh, BTW,
Helen's "brave soldier" who confronted the Sec.
Well, in this month's Car & Driver there is a letter to the editor in which a soldier who was there said the "brave soldier" was put up to it by a left wing reporter. The guy's unit (rear eschelon) was among the last to be armored and it was ALREADY 97% done.

Bear, I addressed your comments five hours before you composed your last reply. I offered the opinion, just for you of Marine Corp officials...in fact, a body armor specialist with Marine Corps Systems Command who said that the troops were more willing to accept that weight on their body when they learn the most prevalent casualty sites. When troops are having to improvise armor by using crotch protectors under their arms it should lead you to believe that the armor is wanted and needed.
Your experience in the military cannot be documented here and I have none so, for a reliable source of information we have to rely on people that we know for a fact have the experience and knowledge to study and recommend appropriate armor to use in Iraq...In this case, we are relying on the Pentagon study. Now that we know the armor is needed the difficulty continues to be getting the armor manufactured and distributed. That has been a problem throughout this mismanaged war.

Clueless best describes someone who relies on this month's car magazine -- letter to the editor for data in an attempt to smear a soldier courageous enough to ask a question about equipment safety to Rumsfeld during the first week of 2004. The tale that a reporter helped with the composition of the question is an old rumor. Wake up, duhsquirrel!

Here is a very simplistic way military contracts and items are purchased for the military
1. Military unit requests item
2. is item available?
3. if yes, send unit the item
4. if no find out true need for item
5. If a true need exists place request for source bidding for item.
6. Winning bidder begins to manufacture the item.
7. item is delivered to the supply of the military.
8. units are made aware that the item is now available, summit requests.
9. item is shipped to the unit.
Now this all does not happen overnight and in most cases is months upon months.
President Bush is not involved at all, so how can you blame him?
Should I blame helen for he communists in the US? would be the same thing.

That's right, Ron. You shouldn't blame me for the communists in this country any more than I should blame you for the morons in this country. Is that the way you want to reason? Of course that kind of thinking makes use of an incorrect inference that I am a communist and that you are a moron.
Of course, you never hold Bush responsible for anything. But I do. As commander in chief he should hold Rumsfeld responsible and if Rumsfeld can't do the job, he should be replaced. This lack of armored equipment has been an unsolved problem since the war began. A good commander in chief would handle it.

ROFLMHO.....I knew there was a good reason I've enjoyed your posts over the years....you get right down to the truth of the matter.

Oh yes, let's listen to helen....she who would rather see our military mothballed than anything else. BUT she'll stand tall and point out how our guys/some women aren't being protected enough.
Let her wear and carry THEIR load for a week in the US desert....her old bones would show a new appreciation for what our soldiers go through.
And she might just might understand how many of them don't want more weight or restriction of movement.
I can just picture her as a General.

Why don't YOU, mingotree and KD find someone else to 'follow around'.
I sick of your obsession with me.
You may read over there everyday...but I've never seen you comment about anything said over there about mingotree or KD. ....Nope...only bring this crap up about me.

I think its a good thing that they inform people on other boards of your phony wicked ways.
For me its easy. I just call you what you are, a Phony Christian that is ALSO a bold face LIAR.
Time and time again you get caught and exposed as a phony liar. Time and time again you come back with more bull roar and lies only to again to be made a fool.
