All I know about eBay and High School is that one School forbids any activity on eBay.

If your caught doing "business" whether legit or phoney, your off the server for 1 week, MINIMUM. That even includes the Staff and Teachers!!

Ouchie, Ouchie, and Ouchie.

Well, I found the eBay ID one of these demon kids.

Apparently there are hundreds of them, most using earthlink e-mail ID's for their contests.

The golf team currently has a contest underway, and their rules requires bidding on golf-related items.

I got this ID by reading my son's hotmail, and snatching the ID from one of the kid's who is bragging that he may win this round. I do not know when this contest is scheduled to end.

I have invited the bidder to join the forum, and I will post his eBay ID tomorrow if he has not replied.

PRINTSELLER You are so FOS you need a septic tank placed on your lips! Here's something for your genius kid and his crew of few...

Hello,

Thank you for the email.

I can appreciate your concern regarding the potential harm this will do.
Unfortunately, we will have to look at each member and suspend them one
by one as they are reported. They will be suspended if the contact
information is deemed invalid, if they are interfering with the site or
if they back out of 3 transactions.

If you have further questions please let us know.

Regards,

Jamal

This does not sound so farfetched to me!

After all, if the general public knows that they can bid and not pay, why not school kids?

I'd be surprised if they're bidding with valid contact information, but hey, who knows? I do believe Jamal misrepresented the facts in that last statement. They'll only be suspended for backing out of 3 transactions, if all three sellers report them as NPB's for non-payment and file for FVF credits.

As far as one of the guilty parties showing up and discussing this with us, I'd be very curious as to whose keyboard s/he is using. The fact that the other trolls are jumping on this bandwagon certainly doesn't give it anymore credibility.

well I have to cast doubt on anyone posting on this board inless I know there is some doubt in what they say.

I just happen to have some free time on my hands here this afternoon so I did searches on many of the golf categories on Ebay.

there is no trends here that show any bogus bidding in this area. frist thing was I looked at over 250 pages of listings.

out of these I looked at well over 1500 Items with one or more bids one them out of this beleave it or not I found O none with earthlink.net addresses even bidding there I use eathlink my self and sell on ebay so if there were thousand of bogus bids from this ISP I would want to be concerned if they block earthlink my sales would be blocked too.

there is no real trend of 0 feed back users but a few new aol users bidding trying to reach a reserve auction prices a dime bid at a time.

there isnt even the kind of bidding there you might exspect to see if a big group is haveing a contest to see who can bid more auctions the categories have what I would call typical ebay bidding you would find in most any other area.

the oddest things I found was a person with a bid who register way back in nov 17 98 still had 0 feed back and one buyer who registered in june or 2000 who onew and only feed back is a -1 .

another thing this searxhed showed is that 7 of every 10 bidders have a aol account and address

I also didnt find no one bidder with bids on more then two Item in these golf categories.

no evidence here would show there is a contest to get the most or highest $$ amount of bid another tyipical ebay trend most the High priced item are bidless and the .01 item have muliple bids many up up in the $80 and $100 range.

Though this person did say they were calling this spoofing which is to steal IDs so if they are honest hackers who got passwords to spoof IDs I wouldnt be looking for the 0 feed back but no trend stands out here even for bidder with good feed back .

Thru your My eBay functions, you can sign in, and opt to see the e-mail addy's of the seller and bidder(s) of any auction.

That's how you can tell and see HCQ.

What do you care? Who do u guys think u are trying to get the moderator to delete this thread? If you don't like this thread, don't read it! You don't have to go around these boards trying to censor everything that you don't like. My son has sworn me to secrecy about this, but since I am anonymous I thought everyone should know about this new fad at his High School.

So then being anonymous makes it ok to break a promise of secrecy to your own son? Not that I'm buying any of your day old bread, I just found that statement interesting.

printseller,

When inviting a seller, buyer or bidder to participate in our forum, the CG's require you have your full name, address and telephone number on record at AuctionWatch. Michelle has requested this information be forwarded to [email protected] but we have yet to receive it.

If we do not have the information within 2 hours I will have to lock the thread.

I didnt do a search so much based on email address I simplly went listing to listing with bids in categories lookked mainly at listing with more then 1 bid clicked on bidders with 0 feed back and used my user name and password to get all the bidder info includeing there email address .

liturally did a one by one search on nearly 2000 auctions with one or more bids in sporting goods golf catagorys one by one.

its very time consumeing but someone had to do it.

from what I seen there based on what I know from selling I can say ebay is haveing a typical week in this area.

its not the best way to spend your day and I dont recomend it but its a great excuse when you are putting off what you should be doing now.

Yeah, C_S, I expected that was the only way to do it. But I thought dman had come up with some neat trick to do it other than manually. I commend you, dman, for your diligence. Whew!

jbaime, I don't see that anybody's asked the moderators to lock the thread. What I DO see, however, is a rather ham-handed attempt by you to tell people to shut up and not ask questions.

Tsk, tsk, tsk. You should know better than to do that on THIS board.

I just ran this new fad past my resident expert...My 16 year old, pretty in-touch, son....I will spare you all an exact quote, but the translation is something like this "Yeah, right mom...dontcha know that's how we get our thrills"....He went on to say that there is nothing like this goin' on in his school (NY suburb - typcially 1+ computers in every house + the school computers)...and that anyone who would do something like that is a "herb" (read: geek, nerd)....

And that's all I have to say about that....

Thank you for the info! Just to let you know that if you "log in" you don't have to submit your info everytime to get the email addy. This will help with the time consumption.

("Log in" is located in the upper right hand corner on eBay.)

Again thanks for the info!
