HOW many millions of emails must the liddle widdle itsy bitsy sellers have to write to bidders, who have beamed money to playpal, telling the bidder that we don't accept playpal???
WHY are these scummy deceitful lying playpal characters permitted to ADD to our workload??
I believe we are already target practice for alla eBay's big corporate competitors, who want to see eBay FAIL, so they can make our eBizzes miserable.
How dare these miserable, haughtily PROUD viral marketers have the gall to disrupt our liddle widdle microbusinesses, and ADD dozens of emails to our lives???
Whadda buncha JERKS!
How about we PETITION ebay to BAN pay"pal" ??
Number 2 - Who has a banner proclaiming:
NO Paypal pymts/NO EXCEPTIONS!

I am working on devising a solution to this problem.
I think that a "No Paypal No exceptions" banner will be offensive to some bidders who don't understand the issues involved.
I am about half way through building a web site that fairly and factually explains the issues with Paypal. Sellers will be able to include a link to the site in their auctions or emails. You could link to it with whatever type of banner or button you would like. For some sellers, it might be "We do not accept Paypal. Click here to find out why." Others might like the "No Paypal, No exceptions." And, of course, "Paypal Sucks" is always an option.
But in any case, your bidders will be presented with a well-reasoned explanation of the problems and concerns with Paypal, both for buyers and sellers.
I will be posting a link tomorrow, if AW will allow it.

Also, I wouldn't count on eBay having much inclination to ban Paypal, due to the Billpoint arrangement. While it might seem like a good idea for eBay on the surface, the resulting anti-trust lawsuit would make the MS trial look like small claims court.

The form of payment I choose to accept is none of eBay's business. It is also not the business of any other seller. (BTW, I have never been registered with PayPal.)

The form of payment buyers and sellers choose to use is none of abaY's business.
Perhaps you'd prefer to pay and be paid through ebaY and have them take 15% commission?

Yup, I do NOT want eBay telling me what payment methods I can or can't accept.

I couldn't agree more about the type of payment that a seller accepts is nobody's business but their own.
But I think that there are some things that are in the best interest of all sellers, and one of those is a diversification in the types of payments accepted.
I'm thinking of something like a "Million Payment March" (OK, lame title, but you get the idea.)
But the more sellers who accept alternatives to Paypal, the more viable those options will become.

I would prefer eBay be petitioned to be more reliable. eBay has already spoken on the subject of payments: sellers choose them.
Can we stop with this "Retaliate against PayPal" manure? It's getting old and is very unproductive.

Yeah, lets get eBay to ban pay services other than BillPoint, lets get eBay to ban image hosting services other than their own, lets get eBay to ban counter other than their own... etc.
I know I'm supposed to address the issue and not the person, but damn... do you EVER get off of a soap box?
You can only type WOLF!!! for so long then it has little effect.

OK, when we're setting up for diversification of seller payment methods, I volunteer to stick with PayPal. I'm willing to sacrifice myself in order to let someone else accept payment by another method, in order to aid in the diversification.....

I say: Be very careful what you wish for.
Edited to say that I copied & pasted radh's statement. That is not the way I write PayPal.

hmmm
ban competition. once one seller posts an item do not permit any other to post a similiar item thus depressing realizations.
ban newbies - I you weren't a member before <pick a date> you have no business participating.
ban sniping - If you didn't bid on an item during the first two days you have no business bidding.
ban rebids - Why didn't you bid your maximum the first time? Don't you understand proxy bidding?
ban banners. done that.
ban customers - can't have them adding to the liddle widdle itsy bitsy sellers' workload.

Good Grief! Don't we have enough problems without our payment choices being taken away. I am sick of this bashing of PayPal also.

liddle, widdle, itsy, bitsy, Lettuce? How old are you anyway? Sorry, but you do not speak for me and it is none of your business or ebay's what payment methods I accept. This whole Paypal crap is so old, if you do not like it, don't use 'em. Seems simple enough to me. Heather

"ban customers"
Not a bad idea. I think that would end all of the 'petitions' and 'call to arms' posts that have danced across the screen lately.
I get upset at times, it's personal thing, and what might be an issue to someone else isn't necessarily an issue with me. Maybe there should be a forum called "Union Hall." That'd be a great place for these 'petition' posts.

I think most buyers won't give a rat's butt about a web page explaining why a seller won't take PayPal. From the buyer's perspective, if PayPal is convenient for them, they're going to keep wanting to use it. I don't think the problems of sellers really seem important to buyers - they just want their items!

Thanks but I already have enough people speaking for me. You preach whatever you wish to your customer and let mine alone.
We had a resaurant here that put bible tracts out on every table. They went under fairly quick. I don't think most people want a serving of issues with a commercial transaction. I really don't need the lettuce humor. I have a hard enough time spelling for real.
